Unprofessional, Unsafe & Unhygienic – Avoid This Tour When we arrived, the owner rushed us, leaving no time to pack properly. Our belongings were falling out of our bags during the ride, and my flipflops and rain jacket were lost. To fix it, our guide Ucha jammed everything into the bags so forcefully that all our food was crushed. Ucha didn’t speak a single word of English. While that was amusing at first, it became a problem over three days of no communication. The lodge was absolutely filthy, trash and old food everywhere, no running water, and toilets full of flies and too dirty to use. The mattresses had huge brown stains and were unhygienic to sleep on. When we tried to cook, Ucha had only brought a gas burner, no pan. He pointed to an old one at the hut, but it smelled bad and had rotten food stuck to it. We gave up and tried to eat what was left of our food, which was smashed from the earlier packing. The itinerary said we would sleep somewhere new the second night, but we just returned to the same dirty hut… Ucha disappeared to sleep for hours without checking on us or saying a word. We had to wake him up when we wanted dinner. The horses were poorly trained and clearly not well cared for. One suddenly bolted toward a ravine with my girlfriend on its back. It was terrifying. The horse fell a couple meters down the ravine. Thankfully, she managed to get off on time. I could have ended much worse. To top it off, Ucha littered throughout the trip: cigarette butts, plastic bags, with no respect for nature. So, do you want a filthy, unsafe, and completely uncommunicative experience? Then go ahead and book a tour with Ucha. Otherwise, we highly recommend looking elsewhere.
