Explore Rarotonga from the comfort of an air-conditioned coach as our experienced, local guide takes you on a fascinating 3 hour sightseeing tour. You will travel along the ancient Ara Metua or "Road of Toi" built in 1050 AD and visit ancient marae (ceremonial sites), inland villages and plantations and the historical Avana point. This tour is a must do as soon as you arrive on the island, it is the perfect introduction to the islands' rich culture, legends and history. Light refreshments included.

Important Note: We are unable to accommodate bookings made directly by clients arriving from cruise ships. If you are a cruise passenger, please request your booking through your ship’s Shore Excursions Department or Guest Services.

Black Rock a volcanic boulder on the edge of the lagoon, traditionally believed to be the departure point of spirits to Avaiki (the afterlife).

Avana Point

Garden of the Seven Canoes The departure of the flotilla of seven canoes from Avana passage on their epic voyage to New Zealand in 1350AD marked the end of the great Polynesian migration. The voyage is commemorated by a circular formation of stones known as the Garden of Seven Stones.

My wife & I found the experience to be very informative & the driver/narrator provided us with a great history of the Cook Islands. We appreciated his insight & humour along with Marie(sorry of if I misspelled her name) from your booking office. We arrived here yesterday & found taking the trip now gave us some good ideas of places we could go back on ourselves during the rest of our stay. We are spending 11 days here as part of our 55th wedding anniversary and could not have picked a better place in the world to do so. Cheers Andy & Pat Harasemchuk Canada

Very informative tour through Rarotongas back roads past small plantations of fruit and vegetables grown by the Cook Is people. Also drove around the island looking at some historical sites and natural features . Gave us a history of Rarotonga. Knowledgable of local history and cultural points was great to learn. Lovely lunch at a Garden Cafe was lovely.

we were looking forward to going on the tour but the response and contact from the tour advisor and company was none exciting, we booked for a trip out for my daughter and myself, after many messages and mails trying to confirm where to meet and confirm the booking we had no feedback from anyone. this is so sad as you come on vacation to avoid the stress and issues of every day life. needless to say for these reason i would never recommend the site or operator.

This was a unique experience to get to see and learn about the island away from the beaches. The history was fascinating, and it was a privilege to be guided by a genuine rangitira (chief) of Aoraki.

Contacted the tour company two days before the tour to update my accommodation to no response. Follow up message also went with no response. Was advised they do not work over weekends (which is fine) but apparently they don’t look at any messages until after your tour is meant to commence. They did not pick me up and asked me to reschedule the tour. I did not have any free time to reschedule so requested a refund. Tour company is refusing to refund for them not providing a service and blaming me, the customer, by stating I did not update them - even when there are time stamped contact attempts. Will be taking this further

Fabulous tour in air conditioned comfy coach! This was a must do giving an excellent overview of the island. The guide and his driver took us to the inner bits where we could see the local plantations and close to home life. We enjoyed some history info and some local stories with a delicious tropical lunch. Highly recommended.

We were pleasantly surprised by the tour. Initially expecting a group or tour bus, it was a personal tour by Nat who had great knowledge about the island and island life. An easy pace and was able to answer any questions, took us to his personal land holding to showing us the typical day to day and was able to talk about growing up on the island, the improvements over time and what other parts we could explore ourselves late.

Weather was torrential so we didn’t get the full experience. However, very informative and interesting. Was good to do the tour at the beginning of our holiday.
