It is a museum that stores pottery, crafts, centering on contemporary Japanese paintings by artists exhibited at the institute exhibition. Our basic philosophy is to nurture the rich hearts of children who will lead the next generation by appreciating excellent works of art, to pass on the irreplaceable nature of Furusato to future generations, and to contribute to the improvement of local culture

The museum exhibits seasonal works, mainly contemporary Japanese paintings. In addition, the museum holds the Shimane exhibition of the Revival Institute exhibition, which tours major cities nationwide, including the Tokyo exhibition, every year. The exhibition of the Revival Institute, which displays many excellent masterpieces, is a valuable place where there are few opportunities to appreciate it in rural areas.

島根県八戸川の清流のほとりに建つ白壁をイメージした今井美術館は、周囲の緑影に溶け込み、自然と良く調和しています。 ■第一展示室：伝統の美―MIZUHIKI　REIWA―展「伝統の美―MIZUHIKI　REIWA―」古くから日本で祝儀や不祝儀の際に用いられてきた「水引」を令和時代にも繋ぐべく、様々な色の水引を使い立体的な作品や日本文化をモチーフにした作品を紹介いたします。普段目にする「水引」の進化をご覧ください。 ■第二展示室：「ひたすらかわいいっていう写真展」「あぁぁウチの子可愛い…誰かに見てもらいたい…」そんな事を思ったことはありませんか？今なら出来ます！今井美術館で！今回の写真展では、皆さんのご家族であり大切なペットでもある犬猫ちゃんの写真を募集展示いたします。ただただ自慢したいだけの写真を１匹につき1枚送ってください。携帯電話の中にあるありきたりな写真、「この目がなんとも言えないのよ～」的なメロメロの写真。コロナ禍で緊張した毎日に「ほっこり」を届けたいと思っております。
