Elevate your summer evenings at the summit! From June 19 to September 7, 2026, your Banff Gondola ticket includes access to Sunset Festival — an alpine celebration featuring live music, tasty bites and chilled drinks for purchase at the summit of Sulphur Mountain.*
Toast the day on the mountaintop — Sunset Festival runs nightly from 6 to 9:30 p.m. this summer.
*In the event of poor weather, the fun moves indoors.

Banff Gondola
Step into an iconic 4-person gondola cabin with expansive windows and enjoy a smooth 8-minute ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain. Along the way, take in spectacular views of the town of Banff, the Bow Valley, and six surrounding mountain ranges. At the summit, soak up 360-degree panoramic vistas. Explore the summit at your own pace with access to scenic walking paths, including the Sulphur Mountain Boardwalk. This self-guided interpretive walkway leads to Sanson’s Peak and the Sulphur Mountain Cosmic Ray Station, a designated National Historic Site. When it’s time to relax, stop by Castle Mountain Coffee Co. for a drink or snack, or enjoy a full dining experience with reservations at Northern Lights Alpine Kitchen or Sky Bistro, offering elevated Canadian cuisine with unmatched views. The Banff Gondola is serviced year-round by Roam Public Transit – Route 1. Ticketed shuttles run regularly with stops along Banff Avenue. Free shuttles are available May to October.

5.00This was an amazing Banff experience. The views were spectacular. There is a shuttle bus from downtown Banff that was very convenient. If you’re visiting Banff National Park, this experience is imperative!
Great views, but those can be found elsewhere throughout Banff without the long lines and fees.

3.00Good experience but be aware of the Gondola return time on your ticket. Purchasing through Viator provides a voucher but you still have to go to the counter to get a ticket. We were planning on having lunch but they only gave us an hour and 15 minutes to spend at the top. The small hike up to the lookout point took almost that long. They said we could extend the time but only if there was availability. We opted to skip lunch at the top. I am not sure I would spend the money and time in lines again when there are so many lookouts in the area that have views that are just as good. Is an 8 minute gondola ride worth it?

5.00The Banff Gondola is a must do while in Banff. The views from the top of the gondola are spectacular. We visited on a rainy cold day, it was nice to have all of the indoor space to enjoy the beautiful views. The Staff were very friendly. It is a little pricey, but it's the only game in town. The crowds were managed well by the staff, well-oiled machine!

5.00It was a beautiful ride up the Mtn. Nice movie about Sulphur Mtn. It was snowing when we went up but cleared up enough for a good view.

5.00Bought the tickets online and we were able to go in on time, the e-tickets were not accepted so had to go get them printed at the counter. Everything went smoothly, the views were great.

5.00We loved the gondola ride to the top of the mountain. Great views of the area. Definitely recommend doing this while in Banff.
