Batu Caves

Batu Caves is a limestone hill that has a series of caves and cave temples in Gombak, Selangor. The limestone forming Batu Caves is said to be around 400 million years old. Some of the cave entrances were used as shelters by the indigenous Temuan people (a tribe of Orang Asli). The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, and is dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is the focal point of the Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia. Batu Caves in short also referred as 10th Caves or Hill for Lord Muruga as there are six important holy shrines in India and four more in Malaysia. The three others in Malaysia are Kallumalai Temple in Ipoh, Tanneermalai Temple in Penang and Sannasimalai Temple in Malacca. Note: Keeping your eyes open to be aware of the monkeys. Don’t feed them! Hold cameras close and use a neck strap if you have one. Please don’t carry any plastic bags, monkeys will aggressive on this.

Rajan was amazing during this tour! This was a very well-paced tour, and Rajan was so knowledgeable about the history of Penang- every part of the tour, including the car ride, provided some detail about Penang geography and history, and it was a fantastic time! I loved the relaxing waterfall, and really enjoyed the batik workshop and the royal selangor tours. Very informative and beautiful work. Thank you Rajan for a wonderful time, 10/10!

The hot springs venue was closed due to refurb . Please note this needs to be advertised and advised to future customers. Our Jazz took us to city to view petronas towers . Great guy !

We were disappointed in the content of the tour. The description said get outside the city and see the villages and the countryside but it was literally on the outskirts of the city and not villages. The hot spring was warm water in small tubs outside of an apartment building that the residents were using. Our guide was more of a glorified driver as he really didn’t go with us or tell us much about the area or the content of what we were seeing. The waterfall was stressful as the monkeys lunged at us and we didn’t feel like we could safely enjoy the falls. The Batik and Pewter places were basically a place to get us to spend money more than educate us and were still in the city and not in any village. I wouldn’t waste my money on this tour. You can get a Grab from the city to the Batu Caves and get more value for your money.

Our driver, Shah, really made our trip. So friendly and knowledgeable! Did whatever we wanted and was patient as we took our time at each stop. 5 out of 5 for him!

There are a lot of stairs, 292, to climb at the Batu Caves but what an amazing trip! We felt great when we finished our climb because we can always say we did it like when we climbed the stairs in the Leaning Tower of Pisa! Having a skilled driver like Indran was really crucial to our success. He was timely and safely drove us to our location and provided clear information about when and where to meet at each stop. We couldn’t have planned this trip better! Although we took photos with the Petronas Tower from the KL Tower before our tour, he took us to a location where we able to get much better shots! We also stopped at a batik factory, Royal Selangor ( I got the best earrings there) and a place where we could get yummy white coffee! We were impressed with his ability to get us to so many wonderful places in a relatively short time. We went to an amazing restaurant for a delicious lunch with local people! The food was so yummy! What a great opportunity!

We really enjoyed this day! Would have liked to spend more time at the waterfall. They didnt take us to Hot Springs, it was closed. TOUR GUIDE WAS AMAZING!
