5.00ABSOLUTELY UNREAL DAY TOUR — 10/10, BOOK THIS NOW Where do I even start. Ha Long Bay was already a bucket-list spot for me, but this tour blew every single expectation I had completely out of the water. From the moment we got picked up to the moment we got dropped off, everything ran smooth, organized, and genuinely fun. No awkward waiting around, no chaos, no feeling like you’re being herded through a checklist. Just a perfectly run day. But honestly? The thing that made this trip unforgettable was our tour guide, Hine. This man is the absolute GOAT. I’m not exaggerating even a little. He was hilarious the entire day — quick, witty, always cracking jokes and keeping the whole group laughing — but the second it was time to actually learn something, he flipped into full encyclopedia mode. The history, the geology, the legends behind the bay, the little details you’d never catch on your own — he knew all of it and made it genuinely interesting instead of dry. That balance of funny AND informative is so rare, and he nailed it perfectly. The views were absolutely breathtaking — the towering limestone karsts rising out of that emerald water look even more insane in person than in any photo. We cruised through, explored, took in the scenery, and every stop felt special. Hine made sure nobody got left behind, kept the energy high, and always knew the best spots for photos and the best moments to just sit back and soak it all in. On top of all that, it was my sister’s birthday, and Hine went so far out of his way to make it special for her. He was incredibly accommodating, made her feel celebrated, and turned what was already a great day into one we’ll genuinely remember forever. That kind of thoughtfulness isn’t something you can train — it’s just who he is. If you’re even thinking about doing a day tour in Ha Long Bay, stop thinking and just book it. And if you can request Hine as your guide, DO IT. You will not regret a single second. Easily one of the best experiences of our entire trip. 10/10, would recommend a thousand times over.

3.00We did a day trip from Hanoi. Round trip on a bus is about 7-8 hours long so expect to arrive back in Hanoi late in the evening. First time travelers will appreciate the limestone cliffs, the cave, and short boat ride to a lagoon, It’s a popular destination so expect huge crowds everywhere. What I didn’t like is the obligatory side trip to a pearl shop. And the buffet in the “luxury” boat did not include drinks with your meal. It’s worth doing first time to tick your bucket list. But would not recommended a repeat visit.
