  It was nice to see Halong Bay. The overall experience was little bit too much for us. Too touristic, loud and excessive. We stopped at pearl making shop which was about 5 minutes of explanation how they make pearls and then we have to go through the maze of jewelry shop - tourist scam!!! The prices are in USD, but it's not written there and it could be confusing. You don't have to buy anything obviously, but the stop wasn't even in our itinerary. Cruise ship and food was ok, all the stops at Halong Bay were nice. However you feel and see how everyone is trying to get more money from you. Kayaking was amazing, I would appreciate more useful information before it. All we got was "are you sure, you want to go? you will fall into water and get wet" just because we didn't want to go on motor boat (for extra money)... The information I would appreciate before kayak would be "leave all your things including shoes here, you can walk there barefoot, there is no place to leave clothes there, your butt will definitely get wet". I had my swimsuit but couldn't take off shorts and shoes. Whole experience was overwhelming for the wrong reasons, they were telling us how proud they are it's in UNESCO, but it was overfilled with cruise ships blasting music (including ours). I am giving 4 stars because I am not the target group and only because of our guide Ronny, he was nice, funny and caring. His English still needs improvement, but we enjoyed all the interesting facts he was telling us. Never going on this type of one day experience again.

  I want to make sure I give this tour an accurate rating. I am not sure how this tour has such great reviews. I was so very excited and booked this toward the end of our stay as a highlight experience and we were so disappointed.. First, we were the first couple at pick up. We sat on our bus with the engine off and no air flow for over 20mins until the next couple was picked up. It took one hour to pick up all other guest before we started the tour. My husband and I were on the bus almost 5 hours before the tour started. I would have been more then happy to have a meeting place in old town to help with this transition. It was ridiculous. We drove one block twice! Every single tour we have done so far did not have this issue and was much more efficient.. Next, please beware. The tax is not included in your ticket price. It does say it some where in fine print but somehow we missed this. I guess we got caught up in 'our most booked tour' ad and missed this part. It is 310,000 dong per person. Thank goodness we had the money with us to pay it. We leave tomorrow and I could see this being an issue. Other people on our tour were also unaware they owed this money and it caused a time delay of starting the trip. After being on the bus for 5 hours this could have been discussed but it was told to us as we tried to enter the park. Do not buy food at the 2nd bus stop. We were hungry as we were picked up at 7:30 and that is when shops around us open. The food was the worst we have ever experienced anywhere. When we got on the boat, we sat for 30 mins. The food for the buffet was already sitting there. I don't know how long it had been out but everything was very cold. I had read another review about worries of sanitation and I agree. On this tour, the pictures you see online must be photo shopped. It looks nothing like the pictures online. They load a bunch of boats full of people. You then get dropped off at each spot with very little information. Several times we were dropped off wand did not understand the plan. An example is when kayaking we had no return time and our guide didn't even take us to the kayaks. It was kinda like get off and go with hundreds of others at the same time and figure it out. We thought we missed hearing the return time so we asked several others and they said they had no clue either. It was a mad house. On the boat at the end of the night we were supposed to have snacks and wine at 5:30. We cruises for 45 mins with nothing. It actually started at 5:45. We did not have enough time to enjoy our food or wine. The kicker of the entire trip was getting off the boat. We were assigned a table at the back of the boat. When we got off our tour guide had left. He didn't wait for us and was long gone. We were left alone. It was so crazy to try and find our way to the bus alone. This tour definitely isn't worth the time or money spent once you include the ridiculous tax. Just add the tax to the ticket price. It was an awful experience. And after talking to others sound us, so many agreed. Beware of name drop reviews. Maybe the two day and three day over nights are better. I would never repeat or recommend this tour to anyone. It was such a shame. I really thought it would be the highlight of our entire trip. Instead we are left with a sour waste of a day.

  I enjoyed everything because the bus was very luxury and comfortable, the cruise was also very classy and the jacuzzi was amazing, the activities that they provided are also great and the food also tastes very delicious.
