The highest peak of the Peloponnese is on Taygetos at 2407 meters. You can choose between one day trip or two-day trip. We will escort you from the Sparta shelter either for the shorter route or the longer. Starting from the Maganiari spring at 980 meters, where the longer route begins, and on the way to the shelter, by a marked path, we will come across rich fauna and flora which you'll have the chance to photograph. For the shorter route we'll start right outside the shelter, though the mountain's rich flora won't accompany us much longer as the vegetation gradually decreases and the slope into a new rocky environment increases. From the shelter, at the Varvara spot at 1,550 meters, we leave the Laconian side of Taygetos behind us and three hours later, climbing the last few meters of the mysterious 'pyramid' we will meet the roofless chapel of the Prophet Elija. The view of the entire Messinian bay will lie before us.

5.00An unforgettable experience. George was an amazing guide. His knowledge of the mountain and its history is incomparable. The views from the start to the tip of the mountain are breathtaking. 5.00Climb Up Office & Project Manager Nicky provided excellent customer service, answering every question with a prompt and courteous response. Our guide Alex, was extremely helpful and patient, lending both his experience of mountaineering and the history of the region, making for an overall wonderful experience. I had no prior experience with Climb Up prior to this hike, but now look forward to seeing hem again in the near future for another adventure. Thank you, Nicky and Alex!

5.00Our Goal was to reach the summit of The Taygetos mountain, and we succeeded in great style! In addition we were looking forward to the nature experience, and we were not disappointed, it was fantastic! In addition, the trip was enriched by our guide Georgios, who had a huge knowledge of the exciting history of Greece, and wild nature on the mountain! It was a win win!

5.00I did the shelter-to-summit single day Taygetos hike with Alex. It was an incredible experience. I was picked up from where I was staying at the start of the day and brought back after the hike. The hike itself was challenging and fun, but also totally manageable (even having no meaningful prior experience). The path we took was beautiful from start to finish and the summit was incredible. Alex, my guide, was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and such a great person to spend the day hiking the mountain with. An awesome experience!!

5.00Had an amazing day in the mountains with George. A very experienced mountain guide an passionate about Greece he made sure that we were safe, had the equipment we needed and walked at the pace that suited us. Although we weren't fit enough to reach the summit we still climbed a good way up the mountain and were treated to the most amazing views before heading down to Sparta for Gyros and the return journey through the mountain pass back to Kalamata. I have no hesitation on recommending Climb Up - we've been on other excursions with them and have always had a fantastic experience We plan to return next year, fitter and ready to reach the summit.
