Oil lamps are lit and the huge flames of fire go up in the air and down in clock-wise movement as dhoti-kurta clad priests offer them to God amidst loud chants on the banks of the holy river Ganga. It is a spectacular view to witness hundreds of devotees and tourists gather on the flight of steps that border the river to offer their prayers and observe this ritual called the ‘Ganga aarti’ being performed every single day at sunrise and sunset.

Haridwar

Haridwar is an ancient city and important Hindu pilgrimage site in North India's Uttarakhand state, where the River Ganges exits the Himalayan foothills. The largest of several sacred ghats (bathing steps), Har Ki Pauri hosts a nightly Ganga Aarti (river-worshipping ceremony) in which tiny flickering lamps are floated off the steps. Worshipers fill the city during major festivals including the annual Kanwar Mela.

Well-planned tour with a divine touch! From the majestic forts of Jaipur to the tranquil ghats of Haridwar, Memorable India curated an experience that blended history, culture, and spirituality seamlessly. Dev coordinated everything beautifully—from the hotel bookings to daily schedules—and kept us informed at every step. Shyam, our driver, was courteous and reliable throughout. He made sure we were comfortable during the long drives, handled traffic with ease, and shared local insights that added meaning to the journey. In Jaipur, we were captivated by the grandeur of Amber Fort and the charm of Hawa Mahal. The transition to the spiritual vibe of Haridwar and Rishikesh was equally memorable. The Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri was simply magical, and the peace we experienced during the riverside moments in Rishikesh felt truly rejuvenating. We came back not just with photos, but with stories, blessings, and lasting memories. Hats off to Dev and Shyam for their excellent coordination. Memorable India really lives up to its name!

We were on a tight 7-day schedule, and Memorable India managed to fit in Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and the twin holy towns of Haridwar and Rishikesh beautifully. Arun was super responsive and helped us adjust the trip to include a yoga session and river rafting. Hari, our driver, was efficient, flexible, and fun to be around. The Ganga Aarti in Rishikesh was so moving, and the Taj Mahal visit added the historical grandeur we wanted. A great combination of spiritual and heritage travel!

I booked this tour at the last minute. Watching the Ganga Aarti, surrounded by locals and pilgrims, lit something in me. I also tried a yoga class in Rishikesh, visited a cafe with river views, and had a lovely guide who shared the cultural stories behind each ritual.
The energy at the Ganga Aarti is something you must feel for yourself!

We went to Haridwar and Rishikesh on this tour, mainly for spiritual experience and photography. Haridwar was vibrant and full of pilgrims. The Aarti ceremony at Har Ki Pauri was simply magical—chanting, flames, the Ganges flowing… it was so peaceful yet so powerful.In Rishikesh, we visited Beatles Ashram and joined a short yoga session by the river. Our guide was very respectful and helped us blend into the spiritual setting without feeling like outsiders. If you want something different from typical sightseeing, do this.
