Leave Queenstown and fly with True South Flights to explore NZ’s largest glacier. Marvel at blue caves and ice formations while you make turns down the 8-10km ski run and be back in Queenstown in time for dinner. A day trip skiing the Tasman glacier is the classic snow adventure guided by our partners, Alpine Guides; Mount Cook’s original and most experienced mountain guiding company. You will take a 50 minute flight to Mt Cook, along the spectacular Southern Alps from Queenstown in one of our modern and comfortable aircraft with guaranteed window seats for all passengers. One of our friendly and knowledgeable pilots will point out Mt Aspiring, numerous glaciers, glacial lakes and snow-covered mountains on the way. We can accommodate your ski equipment, or we can arrange for hire of specialist equipment in Mt Cook. On arrival at Mt Cook airport we will introduce you to your ski guide who will brief you before boarding the ski plane for a scenic flight to the top of the glacier, 2,500m above sea level, to start the first of two runs. The 1,000m descent is and easy to moderate (green to blue grade) run and is all on natural snow. The runs are the longest in NZ up to 10kms long.

Excellent flight. Incredible scenery, very close flying to the Alps. Used as a means to travel, turns out it was a definite highlight! Our pilot was Jason. Professional, helpful, knowledgeable. He explained much on our flight out. On the way back he was happy to talk, but also just turned the headsets off and made it quiet. Since we were exhausted that was perfect. We have a strong preference for helicopters, but this got us SO close to the Alps - it was phenomenal. It was a remarkable way to understand the sheer size of the Alps. The check in/communication process was great too.

AMAZING experience! I flied with True South twice, Tasman glacier and Milford sound fly-fruit-fly. The service is fantastic and the view is amazing. Highly recommended to try at least once. I had to change my plan because I hurt my knees at another ski areas. So they help me to change the plan and allow me to go with Tasman Glacier Highlight while my family ski on the glacier. The pilot even drive me around Mt Cook during the waiting time between my flights.Thanks Jason, Luke, Andrew ( take me to Milford sound) and all other kind staff arrange my flights and transport.

Absolutely one of the best experiences of my life. Worth every penny. Once In a lifetime opportunity you'll NEVER forget. From the moment we were picked up from our hotel to when we were dropped back EVERYTHING was world class. We had Henry as our pilot/guide and he's just the nicest person, a genuine credit to the business. The only advice I can give to anyone is 'don't look at the price tag, you'd pay double to have the experience we had'.

Fantastic day skiing the Tasman. Flight organization ran like clockwork and the flights to Aorangi Mt Cook were excellent. We were in pilot Jason’s capable hands and he got us loaded up and off quickly and safely. Flights were very scenic. Highly recommend if you are a competent skier looking for an adventure.
