Amritsar is one of the holiest and a prime pilgrimage spot for the Sikhs around the world. The 2 day tour includes sightseeing in Amritsar (the cultural capital of Punjab) including the very popular Wagah Border - the border spot between India and Pakistan where every sunset military parade happens to the delight of the visitors, Jallianwalla Bagh - famous for the infamous massacre of Indians by a British General in 1919, and the Golden Temple - the holiest place for the Sikhs. Get a chance to pay homage at the Golden Temple - the oldest gurudwara in the city. There is a lot to experience in Amritsar from religion to history to traditions.

Accommodation with standard amenities offers either two double beds or one king bed, fit for 2 people. Please contact local tour operator after booking to request bed type (contact info will be provided on your confirmation voucher). If you are traveling with an odd number of individuals, an additional bed will be placed in one room.
There will be mandatory supplement for Gala Dinner on 24th December and 31st December night. Cost is not finalized yet by the hotel. We will update the amount once the same is finalized / near to the date of travel and will collect the payment accordingly.

Wagah Border
After Reach Amritsar go by car at wagah border and Wagah border, around 30 kms from Amritsar. It’s an army outpost on Indo-Pak border where the daily highlight is the evening ‘beating retreat’ ceremony . A popular attraction where hundreds of tourists and locals flock to watch the lowering of the national flags and the parade of the soldiers. Every sunset, the patriotic fervor is at its zenith and the day ends with thunderous applause.

Golden Temple
Golden Temple (the most important and holiest Sikh shrine in the world) also known as Harimandir Sahib. The construction of the temple was completed in the year 1604 (started in 1585 AD). The white marble surface of the temple and the gilded domes make for a beautiful contrast. Watch pilgrims bathing in the sacred waters of the Amrit Sarovar (the pond) that surrounds the central shrine, believed to have healing powers. It is on the name of the pond that the city of Amritsar is named after. The Golden temple complex houses world’s largest free mass kitchen (also called langar) feeding thousands of people irrespective of their caste, creed and faith. You can also participate in the kitchen by rolling a few Indian breads.
Jallianwala Bagh
The Jallianwala Bagh holds a great historical importance to Indians and especially the Sikhs, as the place is a reminder of the brutal and heartless massacre upon a crowd of non-violent protesters and pilgrims (who had gathered in the Jallianwala Bagh), carried out by British General Dyer in April 1919. Transcend back in time to the British era as you enter this memorial, established in 1951.
Durgiana temple also known as Lakshmi Narayan Temple. The temple, dedicated to Hindu Goddes Durga, looks similar to the Golden Temple, and is surrounded by a huge pond. Stroll around the place to enjoy some quiet time.

5.00You will need a head covering to enter the temple. As you walk through the entrance, you get a glimpse of the golden temple in the middle of the lake. Then you enter the massive space that houses the lake and the magnificent white and gold temple. Take some time to take it all in and admire the view. It’s beautiful! You should walk round clockwise as is the custom and admire the craftsmanship of the golden temple and the surrounding buildings. We were lucky enough that our guide took us into the kitchen that feeds anyone. All are welcome whatever race colour or religion they are. He explained that this is the biggest kitchen in the world and it feeds 100.000 people every day, 24-7 365 days a year. While we were in the kitchen we were invited to help with food preparation. That was a great privilege, especially when we were informed that all the helpers were volunteers. That was a very humbling experience, that these volunteers are doing this work for faith love kindness and humanity. An unmissable experience that I thoroughly recommend if you have the time!
