Why follow the crowd when you can flip the script? Our award-winning reverse itinerary tour from Melbourne takes you on a wild and wonderful adventure along the Great Ocean Road – backwards! That means more sights, fewer people, and a whole lot more fun.
We kick things off by heading inland straight to the Twelve Apostles –jaw-dropping views and fresh morning light perfect for photos. From there, we explore the stunning Shipwreck Coast, hitting up Loch Ard Gorge, The Razorback, Gibson Steps, and of course, the iconic Apostles.
Then, we switch gears and head into nature with a peaceful rainforest walk through ancient, towering trees.
On the way back, we cruise the coast through charming towns like Apollo Bay and Lorne. And yes – we guarantee wild koala sightings, plus a good chance of spotting kangaroos bouncing through the bush.
So if you're after a laid-back, wildlife-packed, photo-worthy adventure that skips the stress and doubles the fun–this is the tour for you.

We are not able to accommodate children under 7 years of age on this tour, as according to VicRoads regulations they must travel on child restraints, which are not available in our minibuses. Passengers who show up with under 7 years old kids will be refused boarding without refund.

This is a small groups tour and the vehicles are 12 seaters minibuses Toyota Hiace or similar. In case extra room is required, send us a message so we can arrange large coaches option.

5.00Chris was a wonderful guide along the Great Ocean Road; he kept a tight ship and everyone on schedule. He shared his expertise about each stop but did not overwhelm us with information. Even the music was carefully chosen and selected so anyone on this tour could enjoy the full experience of this place in the world.

4.00Very scenic drive with stops along the way. James was a great driver and provided lots of information. If you are over 6ft tall you will probably find the mini bus seating quite uncomfortable…think budget airline seating on a 12 hour trip. Not sure why it is billed as a premium tour

5.00Today, the 7th of December 2025, me and my wife embarked on a tour as mentioned above with Hit the Road tours,Melbourne,Australia. It was indeed a wonderful and an exhilarating experience for both of us. Planning to visit the last tour site namely the 12 Apostles , first was a great idea. Special mention about our Driver and tour guide, Mr.James.He is a young enthusiastic,energetic and an affable person,who was knowledgeable,simple,humble,caring and did everything in a wonderful way.He made sure that all of us in the tour got to see the various scenic sites without missing even one.His sincerity in making us see a number of Koala bears and Kangaroos in the wild was exemplary.He is also a very efficient driver and brought all of us back safely.He is truly an asset to the company.I wish him well and thank the tour company for arranging a magnificent tour, that all of us enjoyed,without exception.Thanks for the Souvenir. 5.00Great Ocean Road Reverse Itinerary Tour Hit The Road Tours It was our go to for our first visit to the area after reading the recent reviews & very reasonable value for the huge day we had almost 12 hours from start to finish but well worth it ! 100% recommended Mark our new Aussie mate & driver for the tour 👍 Welcoming & friendly guy also informative and very interesting bits about the drive along the way An early start but so worth it to arrive at the 12 Apostles before the crowd's & it was stunning and so worth the drive The unexpected is seeing no one but several wild Koala in there natural habit hanging around up in the trees which made mine & I'm sure the rest of the group's team day 🤘 Brilliant thank you We'll be back in sure for another great tour 👍 Jill & Karl Moxon

5.00James was super friendly and great tour guide. He chose a drop off spot that had a toilet so my disabled mom can use. He was able to stop on the road and showed us koala in action While other groups were not able to do so. The trip is long but I would totally do it again.
