What To Expect
Hike to the top of Mount Liamuiga, St. Kitts’ highest volcano, with one of the island’s most experienced guiding teams. Enjoy a safe, small-group rainforest adventure with expert guides, personalized support, and panoramic views of the caldera-crater. Scenic drive from your lodging to our volcano. Passing through university school zones, the main town, and other communities such as the former slave "free village". See lush mountains while looking at the Caribbean Sea. This excursion to Mt. Liamuiga (Mount Misery) Volcano starts at 700 feet above sea level and offers a difficult yet doable trek up to 3100 feet. Overlook the crater of our volcano, view the summit 3792 ft (1,156 m)-the highest peak in St Kitts and Nevis, and look back down to the community below, along with the neighboring island's volcano. Select 9 a.m. or later slot if your ship arrives after 7:30 a.m. Then, give the arrival time in the notes. Contact us if your ship leaves early; do not let this deprive you. 5.00JB Taxi and Excursions is THE BEST!! We booked for a guided hike of Mt. Liamuiga in May 2026. Our guides Janeel (the owner) and EJ were seriously the best we could have asked for. They were friendly, motivating, and knowledgeable. Safety was their number one priority. They were also very mindful of timing so we didn’t miss our cruise ship (we had plenty of time to spare!). We passed a few other “guided” hikes, but could tell ours was the best because one had only a single guide with about 8 guests (some left way in the dust) and another was especially negligent and left a fire burning unattended. Our group had a high ratio of guides to guests, which is especially important while hiking since some people might hike faster than others. We learned a lot about the island and nature. Janeel is very passionate about what he does and strives for excellence. You will become like family. Anything booked with this business will be fantastic.

He was incredibly attentive with our group and always made sure we felt confident to traverse even the most complicated and challenging parts of our hike. I honestly can’t recommend this experience with this company enough!! Challenging but so worthwhile and made all the better by our great guide! Def one of the most rewarding excursions you can do on st. Kitts or any island you visit.

5.00Finally! For years now I've wanted to hike Liamuiga when returning back to St Kitts but it never happened. For this trip this year, I did my preparation long before I arrived. It pays to do some due diligence and in researching,I came across Janeel's company through a great review one of his previous customers vlogged on YouTube. I had a brilliant experience which exceeded expectation. This is not an easy hike for a first time experience particularly is you're not used to hiking but is manageable. Gym fitness won't translate here because the stimulus is constantly changing. There were four of us in total and Janeel did a great job pushing us but at the same time, making sure we were enjoying the experience and keeping us safe. The views at the summit are stunning. You can tell Janeel loves doing this in the manner he was educating us about the environment along the way and doesn't treat it as simply another job. I'll be doing this again on my next visit or one of Janeel's other hikes. Definitely recommend.

5.00Safety is priority with JB Taxi & Excursions. Taxi service: Lonzo our driver: Timely and informative along the journey. Excursions: managing a group of 23, our guides, Janeel, Djai, Ejay, Jamella, Janeel, Elly made sure safety was paramount, then fun and fun we had each time while exploring Liamuiga volcano, Brimstone park..local Rum, Sofa stone and it really is a sofa..., Each hike trip was well thought out, snacks, routes, lunch stops, the places of interest, the views, capturing the sunrise and the sunset. This was an experience of culture, food, views with a down to earth team, like nature itself. We hired a company and found a family. I recommend JB and the team 'big time'...

Very good organization, very good care by Janeel with his team. We felt safe at all times. Recommended to anyone with good condition and surefootedness. 5.00We had an amazing experience on this hike. Our guide DJae made sure we paced ourselves well, but still allowed us to take the time we needed to catch our breath at the designated stopping points. It was a tough hike, especially in the lower parts of the rainforest, but absolutely worth it. I would follow all of the recommended instructions given by the guides, especially the amount of water they recommend bringing. Overall, the views were incredible and the perfect place to get engaged. I would recommend this hike and DJae to everyone!

5.00My wife and kids had a fantastic experience on our hike. My kids are 11 and 9 and they really enjoyed it. Some other adults were not prepared for the physical nature of this hike and our tour guides handled the situation very professionally. They did great with a safety first mentality and got us back to our cruise on time!

5.00We chose to do the volcano hike in St. Kitts, and while it was definitely tough, it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. This is not an easy hike. It’s steep most of the way, with lots of exposed roots, large rocks, and quite a bit of mud (especially if it’s rained recently). Proper shoes are a must, and I wouldn’t wear anything you’re hoping to keep clean. It took us about 2 hours to reach the top. We spent around 10–15 minutes up there taking in the views, which were absolutely worth it, and then another 2 hours to make our way back down. There are a few stops along the route, which help, especially on the climb. What really stood out to us was the quality of the guides. We had Djae and EJ, and they were excellent. Our group had 10 people with 2 guides, which made a noticeable difference. They kept a steady pace, checked in often, and made sure no one fell behind. We saw other groups with much larger numbers and only one guide, and the experience didn’t seem nearly as well managed. At one point, someone from another group was seriously injured, and Djae stepped in to help, which really left an impression on us. Also, Janeel was very helpful with communication ahead of time, which made the whole experience feel well organized from the start. Overall, it’s a rewarding experience with incredible views, but it’s physically demanding and not for everyone. If you’re prepared and go with a good guide team, it’s well worth it.
