Join us to visit the beautiful mountain resort town of Hakone. Nestled in the mountains, Hakone is a place of natural and artistic wonders. Visit Owakudani to see the ever-rising sulfurous gasses from the active volcano that provides heat to the many hot springs nearby. Try the area’s famous black boiled eggs; turned black and infused with the minerals from the spring. Ride the rope way down the mountain to Lake Ashinoko for a beautiful view of Mount Fuji. Sail across the lake to visit the Torii gate by Kuzuryu shrine to the area’s 9 headed dragon deity. If you are an art fan, try visiting one of the many art museums in Hakone.

Lake Ashinoko
Lake Ashinoko (芦ノ湖, Ashinoko) was formed in the caldera of Mount Hakone after the volcano's last eruption 3000 years ago. Today, the lake with Mount Fuji in the background is the symbol of Hakone. The lake's shores are mostly undeveloped except for small towns in the east and north and a couple of lakeside resort hotels. The best views of the lake in combination with Mount Fuji can be enjoyed from Moto-Hakone (a few steps south from the sightseeing boat pier), from the Hakone Detached Palace Garden and from the sightseeing boats cruising the lake.
Hakone Shrine
Hakone-jinja Shrine is a tranquil place of worship with a history stretching back more than 12 centuries. Its buildings have been destroyed by fire and rebuilt several times, yet the shrine and surrounding forest retain an atmosphere of both peace and mystery.

Our guide, Leo, did his best to salvage our visit to Hakone on a very stormy day. He was cheerful and attentive, able to pivot quickly when the gondola was closed due to high winds and other obstacles presented. Thank you, Leo!

Our guide Fummy took us around Hakone on a one day tour. He was great - contacted us beforehand to arrange a customised itinerary and arranged a meet up time at our hotel. Fummy helped us around the different areas and along the way gave us lots of interesting information and answered any questions we had. It made the whole experience very enjoyable and would highly recommend the tour leaving us with long lasting memories forever.

Great experience - it was so much more efficient and rewarding than it would have been, should we have done it in our own. Kaz took us to a wonderful private restaurant for an extraordinary meal at a more than reasonable price. We also visited the tea house in Gora Park, where we were serve a cup of matcha and a sweet in the traditional setting.

Great area to explore. Good to have a guide navigate you around and explain what you are seeing. Kaz was great!

We were really disappointed with this tour. It felt very overpriced for what was offered — we only visited four places, and overall it didn’t feel like good value for money. To make matters worse, transport wasn’t even included, so we had to pay our own way to get there. In hindsight, this is something we could have easily organised ourselves for a fraction of the price. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t recommend this tour based on our experience.

We had a wonderful day in Hakone with our guide Kanako. She was incredibly thoughtful, organized, and knowledgeable, and did a great job planning the day around the limited time we had. Everything ran smoothly, from coordinating the cable car to the cruise, and she made sure we didn’t miss any of the key experiences. She was also fantastic with our boys—engaging, patient, and made the day fun for the whole family. Hakone can be a bit tricky to navigate, but Kanako made it feel easy and stress-free. Highly recommend her if you’re visiting the area.

We had a wonderful experience with our guide, Shuji. He was incredibly kind and thoughtful throughout the entire day. Even though the weather was not the best, he quickly rearranged our itinerary so we could still enjoy and learn more about Japanese culture. Shuji shared many interesting insights about daily life and traditions in Japan, which made the experience much more meaningful for us. You can truly see that he is committed to his work and that he genuinely cares about giving his guests a great experience. Thank you very much, Shuji, for such a memorable day

Our tour guide, Shuji, was extremely knowledgable, cheerful, and fun to be with. We saw the beautiful Mt Fuji, ate black eggs, learned a lot of history, sailed the magnificent pirate ship on Lake Ashi, and visited the Open Air Museum. Shuji was full of detailed and interesting information about the entire region. It was a fantastic day 😊 Thank you, Shuji.
