Wat Umong
Temple of the tunnels and Buddha Dhamma garden - or Umong Temple located just west of Chiang Mai city near Doi Suthep mountain. The temple was abandoned during the 15th century. In 1948 the temple was restored and was reopened as a center for meditation and Buddhist teachings. The temple’s setting in a forested area with a natural lake makes Umong temple an excellent place for meditation.
Wat Pha Lat
While most people head to the top of Doi Suthep to visit the golden chedi of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, many don’t realize there’s another gem hiding part way up the mountain. While it is not a particularly beautiful temple building, it features magical temple grounds including a waterfall, forest paths and stunning views of the city.

My Tour Guide June was simply divine. She has such a lively spirit and shares a passion for Chiang Mai History and Culture. Her story telling skills together with her cheerful nature made this tour the highlight of my Chiang Mai Trip. Will definitely come back for visit again!

This excursion was worth every penny. Confortable air conditioned mini bus. Great driver and guide. The three temples we visired were so interesting and all very different. We were impressed with all of them but especially Doi Suthep. It took our breath away with the gold glistening in the sunlight. Hearing the monks chanting and getting a couples blessing was a great experience. Our guide Noom was exceptional. So knowledgeable and took lots of photographs which he kindly sent to me. Also giving some very useful tips on how to get great shots with my camera. Highly recommend this excursion.

Mr Nan our tour guide did a fantastic job. He told us all about the culture, explained the history of the temples, and made sure we had plenty of time at each location. He positioned us well to see the Monk’s chanting and explained it in detail. It was a perfect ending to a wonderful tour. Thanks Nan.

A really great trip with our guide Gobi and driver Nam. Gobi had excellent knowledge and personal experience of the monks and the temples. Nam's minibus was very high spec, clean and safely driven. We had a really great time and experience.

This tour was an ideal option for us staying in a remote location 25 minutes drive from Chiang Mai. It allowed us to visit the three most spectacular temples located around the city, which would be otherwise difficult when relying on a taxi or tuk-tuk.

All I can say is wow! The temples we were privileged to see were so very interesting and very different. What made this tour extra special was our guide Gobi! He was such an intelligent, interesting and great story teller! Our driver was also added a lot as he was also a photographer so he took so many fantastic pictures! Perfect amount of time, highly recommended

Our day began with Noom who was an outstanding guide. He provided all of the information we were interested in knowing and graciously responded to all of our questions. He was respectful to take cues from our pace, understood what was of interest to us, was sure they we always had the best vantage points, photo tips, and valuable information. Noom always made sure we were comfortable and happy. He also satisfied our intellectual curiosity. He had great communication with the driver to ensure he was at the ready for us as well and we had plenty of water and refreshing cool wipes. We had a memorable experience visiting the temples and understood the connection between them, the city of Chiang Mai and the people. This tour felt so personal and enriching. We felt so lucky to have this experience. Would highly recommend and suggest you request Noom. He will ensure your experience is meaningful to you.

Our family of five had a wonderful afternoon/evening touring Wat Umong, Wat Pha Lat, and Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. Our guide, Gobi, was exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with all of our questions. He provided us with so much useful information not only about the temples, but also Thai history and culture — and all with a great sense of humor. Both he and our driver were very thoughtful and polite every step of the way. When it was time to watch the evening prayer chant at Doi Suthep, Gobi even saw to it that one member of our group who needed it had access to a chair rather than sitting on the ground. He even left us with restaurant recommendations! I would highly recommend this experience to anyone wishing to learn more about Buddhism and the area’s rich history. And definitely ask for Gobi if you can! You won’t be disappointed.
