Skanderbeg Square
We begin at Skanderbeg Square, the vibrant heart of Tirana, where the city’s history, architecture, and daily life come together. Here we explore the impressive Skanderbeg Statue, dedicated to Albania’s national hero, while explaining the importance of the square as the main gathering place of the country. Around the square we observe the monumental Palace of Culture of Tirana, home of the Opera and Ballet Theatre, and the iconic National Historical Museum, famous for its large mosaic façade that illustrates Albania’s history from ancient times to the modern era.
We continue toward the historic Et'hem Bey Mosque, one of the oldest surviving buildings in the city, together with the nearby Clock Tower of Tirana, symbols of Tirana’s Ottoman beginnings. From here we walk along the elegant Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard, designed during the Italian period in 1939
