  Great morning trip. Very well organised and an interesting place to visit - whether you are a fan or not of Lord of the Rings. The shop is expensive - it is cheaper to buy stuff at the Weta Studio in Wellington

  Knowledgable and friendly staff. Not rushed and we'll organized. Facilities were clean. Gift shop somewhat congested.

  I was honestly not looking forward to this tour, as I have no interest in the Lord of The Rings nor The Hobbit stories or movies. However, once we met up with our tour guide Dan ( who was EXCELLENT, by the way, even though this was his first day of work after having left the place about six years prior), I was mesmerized. Our entire family agreed that this tour was one of the great highlights of our 16 day trip to New Zealand. Lunch was included, which comprised Bread, Rice, Couscous, Potatoes, Vegetarian Curry, Fall-Off-The-Bone Chicken, Sweet Potatoes, Parsnips, Beef, Coffee, Tea, Desserts plus optional wine ( at extra cost). The food was delicious. One pale ale or stout was also included in the price

  First an admission- never read any of the books or seen any of the films! However I really enjoyed the visit . It is very popular so book in advance ! It is extremely well organised and professional. Lots of hobbit houses and stories from the guides and fascinating insights into the making of the film. A drink in the bar at the end of the tour was the icing on the cake! Umbrellas provided for shade or rain cover. There is a little waking uphill so not for unsteady on feet but I managed!   Fabulous experience. Difficult to believe you were on a film set. The attention to detail was unbelievable.

  Our tour guide Liam is very accomodating and knowledgeable. The great part is get in to a furnitured hobbit hole and experiencing the real hobbit life.

  Quite exciting really! Capturing the little details like the laundry, tools, firewood, letter boxes! Such a magical experience for sure!

• Shire and inside of hobbit hole are amazing, skip the version with a meal.

  The tour of the Shire is amazing for LOTR fans. They filmed at the site and it shows. The tour of the interior of the hobbit holes was particularly fantastic. A must do for any LOTR fan. I do not recommend including the meals which are provided in a tent that was not a part of the movie. The food is basic buffet, lots of it but nothing special. It would be so much better if the meal was in the Green Dragon tavern.
