Fall in love with the Alexander family sheep farm, just as acclaimed director Sir Peter Jackson did, as you journey through the unequivocal beauty of the land with the mighty Kaimai Ranges towering in the distance. Your guide will escort you around the set, showing the intricate detailing, pointing out the most famous locations and explaining how the movie magic was made. You will be fully-guided around the 12-acre set: past the colourful Hobbit Hole™ doors that scatter the hillsides, before arriving at Bagshot Row™ for a glimpse of the interior of a humble Hobbit’s home. Finally, you will arrive at the world-famous Green Dragon™ Inn where you will receive a complimentary, exclusive Hobbit™ Southfarthing™ beverage to conclude your own Middle-earth™ adventure.

Please note, from 1 June - September 2025, maintenance works will be taking place. During this period, construction and maintenance equipment and noise will be present. Tours will continue as normal but will take an alternate route around the construction zone, while being able to get a glimpse of the work that goes into keeping Hobbiton Movie Set as magical as it looked in the films.

5.00The tour is very impressive. You will be guided through the set for about 2 hours with great stories about how the set was developed and what was filmed where. You could take a lot of beautiful photos and even go into a hobbit house. The whole thing then ended in a visit to the Green Dragon. Drink included and food can be bought. Finally, there is a Green Dragon Jug to take away. Just great. Great guide (Emma). I would do it again!

5.00Really nice experience, would be better if you have seen the movies as well, so you can imagine while you walk around. This was my second visit, last time yhe hobbit house was not open for the public, but this time we were lucky coz it's open now. Really nice experience, and the tour guide Hannah was also very friendly.

5.00What a magical day walking through the movie set of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit! 😍 The lush green hills, colorful little hobbit houses, and peaceful vibes made me feel like I stepped into another world. Every corner was picture-perfect .

5.00So much better than I imagined. Tour guide was fantastic, genuine and really knowledgeable. Felt very welcomed. Ginger beer was the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend.

4.00Very cool experience. Amazing to see how much detail was put into creating the movie set. We arrived slightly late for our tour and the ticket operators were incredibly accommodating and booked us on another tour an hour out so we could have a quick bite to each and a drink at the cafe beforehand. The free beverage at the end was lovely as well
