  Did the 2.5 hr walking tour and was wondering if my legs would hold out. Had no need to worry as there is so much to see that the stops along the way are often. So much history on how the film was made and the guide was very informative. It is a lot better now as they have opened up two of the hobbit houses which has 10 rooms. Do yourself a favour and book early for this as I am sure you will not be disappointed with paying the money and you should have an awesome time as we did, in fact it was one of the highlights of our North Island road trip.

  I am not a Hobbit nut, but I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I like to build things, and the detail on the Hobbit houses was so cool. I'll definitely copy parts of them in my own work.

  A magical place. Extremely well run and our host was amazing - knowledgeable, fun and insightful. The location was immaculate and the more you looked the more you saw. The generously sized ale at the pub wax a real bonus. Highly recommended - even if you aren’t an out and out Hobbit-head.

  We loved the behind the scenes info and little details highlighted to us by our guide. Thank you for the magical time! Dylan was great. On the way back to our home country, we ended up binging the entire 3 Lord of the Rings movies

  Hobbiton is definitely worth a visit. You really feel like you're in another world. The tours are professionally arranged and there is plenty of time to look around and take pictures everywhere. We were very happy with our guide, who knew a lot about the set (without his talk coming across as a routine). A drink at the Green Dragon Inn was a nice and cozy ending.

  We were lucky to see Hobbiton at its very best in bright sunshine, and in the Autumn when the little gardens were full of fruit and veg for extra charm. The set is a dream come true for fans of The Hobbit and LOTR, but even for non-believing companions it has a lot to offer. The set dates from the making of the Hobbit movies, when the people in charge realised that there was a real desire to visit this much-loved fictional world. Not only are there many carefully crafted Hobbit hole front facades, there are now two complete hobbit houses that can be visited. The loving attention to detail in these houses and facades makes it easy to imagine that the hobbits have just popped out for a bit and will be back soon. The logistics of moving hundreds of visitors around New Zealand’s second most popular visitor attraction are handled very professionally. Everything ran very smoothly, with no sense of being rushed or crowded. The tour finishes with a drink at The Green Dragon - a beautifully thatched pub. There was just time for a cheese scone that was big enough to satisfy the hungriest of hobbits! Take lots of sunscreen and a hat, even in Autumn it was hot and you are outside for a good couple of hours.
