One of the BEST excursions in Kyoto. This experience alone is worth the trip to Kyoto. You get a brief Samurai history filled with interesting facts, participate in meditation techniques, and of course, a well detailed technical lesson of how to strike with the samurai sword. The instructors are also very patient with the students. This was first time using a samurai sword and striking a target. I think I want to invest in this hobby now. It’s well-timed for travelers who have busy plans in their itinerary. It’s not too short, it’s not too long, it’s just perfect! I wish they have an even more advanced class for advanced techniques? Could be a potential idea in the future.

Really unique experience! The staff was extremely professional and welcoming. The house, with its history dating back to the Edo period, creates an authentic and suggestive atmosphere. The samurai instructors are really impressive for their expertise and stage presence, and the lessons are engaging and well-structured. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in samurai culture in an authentic and memorable way.

If there's one thing I regret, it's this activity. It's the most expensive samurai experience of them all, and the least lucrative. I don't know if it was because there were so many of us, but it didn't look like the videos and photos I'd seen. We didn't have swords, whereas for the other experiences, the clients have swords. Then, we barely had time to take photos. Personally, since I was traveling solo, I didn't have time to take any pictures because we were in such a rush and we were many too. Yes, they take photos themselves, but it's not the same. We cut moss, not bamboo. There was a lot more explanation and demonstration from them, but not much hands-on experience for us. And then, they dressed me in a child's size. I don't know if the woman did it on purpose because I'm thin, but it's deplorable. Everyone else had baggy clothes; I had a super tight top and tight pants. Honestly, it's better to have a small group and do things properly than a large group where the guests don't enjoy it. I had a tea ceremony the day before, we were 10 people including me, and I loved it so much that I compared it to this samourai experience, and the difference was enormous. We had time to take photos, there was enough space for everyone, etc. It was peaceful.
