Wat Chamthewi Temple (Wat Ku Kut)
Our first stop is Jamdevi Temple (Wat Cham Thawi), home to a chedi surrounded by arches holding 60 Buddha statues; Queen Chama Devi’s ashes are said to be found inside. The unusual square ‘stepped pyramid’ pagoda is the oldest surviving example of its kind from the Dvaravati period ruling much of Thailand from the 6th to 11th centuries.
Wat Phra That Hariphunchai
We’ll head to Wat Prathat Hariphunchai – a fantastic 9th-century temple complex by the river. Said to be Lamphun’s biggest, oldest and most attractive temple compound, Hariphunchai Temple got its name from the Mon Kingdom city that ruled this part of northern Thailand from the 9th-13th centuries.

I had a wonderful day. Jackie, our guide, was able to tell the story of the temples we visited, outside the usual circuits. Nice tour!

Wassana is a great guide. This woman is like a bomb bursting with positive energy :)! Everything went smoothly and in a very pleasant atmosphere. The driver was wonderful—always opening the door for us so I felt almost like a king. We even received a small lunch as a gift and plenty of water. We warmly recommend this private tour. It was just the two of us for $145, and we think it’s worth paying a little extra for that independence.

Because of the COVID-19, I ended up being the only one to book the tour on that day. Despite this, the tour wasn't cancelled, it basically was a private tour, but I wasn't charged more than for a group tour. The guide and driver, Jackie, was very kind and knowledgeable, he provided detailed information about the various places, much more than one usually hears on such tours. The temples themselves were among the most impressive ones I saw in Thailand. Overall, if you are at interested in temples, and if you have a few days in Chiang Mai, I'd strongly recommend taking this tour.

Tour guide, Nicy, did an excellent job of explaining the history and culture at each temple. She is very knowledgeable and yet very accommodating if you want to model fu the schedule. Highly recommended.
