  What a wonderful tour everything was perfect pick to drop off - Ian was friendly and very informative - coach was one of the most comfortable we’ve traveled in - multiple stops break up what is a long day - Milford Soumd itself didn’t disappoint and the sun even shone.

  Fantastic trip with Luxe Tours. From the initial booking right through to the tour itself, everything was handled professionally and perfectly. Our guide Murray was outstanding and really went out of his way to make the experience special. Highly recommend Luxe Tours for anyone wanting a memorable Milford Sound experience.

  The Milford Sound tour with Luxe Tours is an absolute must. They are small, family tour operator and they provide a first class experience. Ian, our guide for the day, was very welcoming and informative, but also very flexible to the wishes of the small group. Milford Sound is a spectacular experience, made all the more special by Luxe Tours. I highly recommend Luxe Tours, as a small group specialist. Peter H

  Brilliant! Fantastic! Awesome! Pick up on time. Murray our guide greeted us personally by name, made us very welcome. Bus is so comfortable and quiet. Had pre-arranged near-front seating for queasy passenger but no need, Murray is a calm and considerate driver (total confidence in him). Commentary excellent on history, ecology, road, etc. but not overbearing. So many awesome stops. Murray claimed to not have control of the weather and wildlife but we all assumed it was him that stopped the wind and brought out the sun and found us a kea! Muffin with coffee with one of the best views ever was perfect! Streamlined entry on to cruise. Cruise fantastic. Drive back easy and calm (good music selection by Murray!).   Glad we booked woth you guy's. Everything was well planed, lots of information from our tourguide Ian. Took us to beautyful places we would not have seen with the same eyes learning about the wildlive and envirement. Very comfortable bus with a small group of really fun people (10) .Thak you very much 🫶

  Fantastic trip. We had the luxury of a good, knowledgeable tour leader/driver in a very comfortable Mercedes Sprinter bus. Plenty of scenic stops with commentary along the way. The Milford cruise is stunning and a must if you’re in the area. Well done Lux.

  Adrian was such a brilliant tour guide. Thoughtful, knowledgeable and just genuinely down to earth. He felt like someone you’d known for years which made the whole experience feel really comfortable and personal from the start. You could tell he was genuinely passionate about the environment and the places we visited. He had a great way of explaining the small details while still keeping things light and engaging for everyone on the tour. Nothing felt rushed or overly scripted. He was also an incredibly careful driver and somehow managed to keep the same energy and enthusiasm through every stop of the day. For someone so young he came across incredibly mature, kind and professional. Easily one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had. The whole experience felt so much more genuine and worth the money compared to some of the bigger tours where you just feel like a number getting rushed through each site. Everything about this felt thoughtful and really well crafted. From the fresh bottles of water to the towels for wiping the windows and even the little ticket at the end that you could keep for scrapbooking. It’s clear a lot of care goes into every detail. The food was delicious and you could tell the whole experience had been designed with a lot of thought behind it. What also stood out was how highly Adrian spoke about the company and the owners. Happy employees make such a difference to the overall experience and you could really tell he felt valued and looked after. That positive energy carried through the entire tour. Such a fantastic experience and a company that clearly chooses phenomenal people.

  

  

  

• Mixed feelings- cruises were crowded and not a small group experience

  We did the Milford/Doubtful combo tour with Luxe Tours. The van portion was good overall, mainly thanks to an excellent guide, but the cruise portions were far from a small-group experience and were disappointing. It really felt like two separate trips, one being private and small and the other just a regular large group cruise. There were also some misleading aspects on the website. I understood this to be a small-group experience throughout, including the cruises. While the van portion was indeed small and comfortable, both cruises were crowded, as we were combined with multiple large tour buses. The website mentions that RealNZ operates at 50% capacity, this may be true, but even at that level the boat felt very crowded. The reserved seating on the Milford cruise was particularly poor. We were placed on the middle deck, facing a wall, with only one bench at the table and no real view. The top deck appeared far less crowded and would have been a much better experience. The food was served immediately and was dry and not great. I wouldn’t choose it again. The guide/driver was the highlight of the trip, friendly, knowledgeable, and knew where to stop. However, there were still areas that could be improved. There was little to no explanation before stops, so we often didn’t know what we were looking at, and there was no commentary at all on the return journey. Having both a driver and a dedicated guide would have been helpful especially since the driving conditions were difficult on the way back as it poured and the guide was tired I presume like everyone else after a full day. There was an unexplained person who was not part of the tour. Would be good to introduce everyone at the start. Customer service from the owners also needs attention. Phone interactions felt dismissive and sounded unhappy talking to me, and one response of “because I said so” came across as unprofessional and unhelpful. The van itself was nice and spacious, but the seats were narrow, especially with jackets, and the seat belt inserts were awkward and kept falling. My seat belt didn’t work at all, which should be checked before each tour. It’s also worth noting that the Doubtful Sound portion is fully operated by RealNZ. Luxe Tours simply books this segment, which made it feel unnecessary to include, as it could easily have been arranged independently. Being loaded onto three large tour buses, then ferry, cruise and repeat on the way back felt far from small group travel and I would not book this again. What we enjoyed: * Excellent guide, friendly, knowledgeable, and kept things on schedule * Small group size (around 10 people plus guide) * Thoughtful extras like water, snacks, cloths, and quality umbrellas * The foreshore walk What needs improvement: * Owner communication and phone etiquette * Pre-checking seat belts for safety * Transparency about cruise crowd levels * Clear explanations before each stop and commentary on return * Better time allocation at stops (less rushed) maybe leave at 7am instead * Clarification that coffee is instant, not from a local merchant as advertised * Transparency about the Doubtful Sound portion being fully outsourced and provide pictures that show the actual cruise/bus experience. Overall, while the guide made a strong effort, the experience did not match expectations set by the website.

• Amazing Luxe tour on a perfect sounds day!

  Hard to describe how amazing our day was. We had the lovely Ian as our driver and we joined an Aussie family of 5 adults and 2 kids for our trip. The van was very comfy and Ian was a very careful driver in tricky driving conditions. He had lots of interesting info to tell us along the way, and we enjoyed our many photo stops. Our morning muffins were yummy too. The 2 hr cruise was gorgeous on a perfect sounds day, we even saw some dolphins 😊 we had chosen the optional lunch and the pork belly pie and berry cheesecake was delicious and very filling.   What an amazing tour, from the moment we were picked up to the moment we were dropped off our tour was 10/10. Murray and Ian looked after us so well, lots of laughs, amazing scenery along the way and the organisation was first class no stones left unturned. We couldn’t have asked for more.
