Milford Sound is arguably the most scenic destination in New Zealand and a must-see for any traveller. Whether seen in sunshine or rain, the incredible views are guaranteed to leave you awestruck. This is a small group tour for travellers seeking a uniquely-kiwi trip to Milford Sound.

We keep things personal using our fleet of modern Mercedes vans. Enjoy your journey with no more than 16 people in a vehicle with premium features such as leather seats, panoramic scenic windows, Wi-Fi & Spotify playlists.

Let your Altitude Tours guide entertain you with their in-depth knowledge of the area. Enjoy many scenic photo stops at both famous locations, as well as our guide's favourite off-the-beaten-track spots.

Enjoy a 2-hour small uncrowded cruise while taking in the incredible beauty that Milford Sound has to offer! You can also add on a picnic lunch to enjoy onboard.

After your cruise, take in the views from above, on an incredible flight back to Queenstown over the Southern Alps.

Suitable for all physical fitness levels

Collapsible wheelchairs with removable wheels can be accommodated providing the passenger is accompanied by someone who can assist them board and disembark

Please bring walking shoes, warm clothes and a rain jacket.

The flight back is weather dependant and in the case where flights are cancelled due to weather, you will return to Queenstown by van and be refunded your flight portion of your ticket.

There is an option to include a packed picnic lunch. If you choose to add this, the default choice is chicken, however you can request a vegetarian lunch until 5pm the day prior.

Please bring a reusable waterbottle on tour with us. There are multiple locations to refill during the day.

We loved this tour from start to finish! It was a long day, but so worth it. Nev was our tour guide, and he was an interesting guy! He picked us up at our hotel in Queenstown and explained so much about New Zealand along the way to Milford Sound. The van was comfortable and Nev provided just the right amount of narrative. He gave us all the ins and outs so we didn’t get lost in the crowds at our stops. The boat trip through Milford Sound was just wonderful, two hours long. After the boat trip, Nev introduced us to our pilot, Mike. We were really glad that we chose to fly back to Queenstown for 2 reasons: 1.) the day was long enough without a return car ride, and 2.) the small plane provided the most spectacular views we’ve ever seen!!! We were lucky that the weather cooperated. We’d highly recommend this tour!!

Our tour was absolutely incredible. Our guide Amy was so helpful and bubbly. She gave us great information and always told us what was coming next. She stopped to let us take pictures- which was great. We never felt rushed. Everything was perfect, on time and as described. The lunch was great- honestly more food than we could eat and yummy. Definitely get the lunch- it’s a long day. Boat ride was fabulous. Views were amazing! We flew back and completely enjoyed the flight- totally worth it and the highlight of our trip to NZ. If you can fly- you should do this. This is a great tour company and would highly recommend.

Our trip to the Milford Sound was beautiful. Sadly the weather didn’t cooperate for our flight back but we still had an amazing experience… just a lot longer of a day having to drive both ways. Hal was a great guide!!!

This was absolutely amazing! The tour guide Erik was friendly, very good, funny and extremely knowledgeable of the area - a great guy and even better tour guide. The entire experience was truly top notch. Our plane ride was cancelled due to adverse weather, but I'm glad we opted and paid extra for the helicopter ride - we unexpectedly landed on one of the summits and got to look around which was spectacular and then had just the best views of the fiordland all the way back. This tour is highly recommended and will forever be a highlight for us in beautiful Queenstown. Thanks Erik and Altitude Tours!
