Brilliant tour, lovely guide, very knowledgable and gave great insight. However, hookah valley track was closed that day.

A great tour if you are interested in the endless breath of nature! After reaching the second bridge, please proceed about 50 feet beyond the second bridge and witness an amazing view of Mt Cook.

Did this tour on Apr 7, 2025 with driver named Grant. The van was packed. At the first stop at Fairlie Bakehouse, I asked Grant if I (a brown guy) could sit up front since it was empty. Grant told me no since he needed that space to keep his stuff and all the lunch packets for later since there was no space at the back of the van. Fair enough. But imagine my surprise when leaving 10 mins later, a white american woman from the group gets up and sits up front and stays there the next 10 hours! What was that about Grant? And when a few hours later the lunch packs were served, guess where they came from - the back of the van! Now having traveled to over 80 countries, I am fairly used to such casual discrimination but never had to pay for it. It was always free. Imagine paying almost USD200 for this tour and getting casual racist vibes from the driver. Woah!! Didnt realize I had to be a specific color and gender to sit up front. Coming to the tour itself, it’s a long day and long drives. The stops are the 2 lakes are about 10 mins each and at the Mt Cook Alpine Centre about an hour. The rest of the day is spent in the van. Not worth in my opinion and defo not worth with such a driver.

The weather forecast was 100% chance of rain so we didn’t actually see Mt Cook. But the rest of the tour was nice. Fairlie Bakehouse had fantastic meat pies and they provided a nice lunch. The Church of the Good Shepherd was quaint and the in route lakes were pretty even in the rain. Our driver Frankie did his best to keep our spirits light and kept repeating “ trust me - it’s there” regarding any missed views.

A great day exploring the countryside on the way to Aoraki Mount Cook National park. Our guide Will was wonderful. The stops we made along the way and his commentary made a long day on the road go by smoothly and seemingly quickly. We loved the food we got at the Fairlie Bakehouse. Although it was raining when we got to the park, his clear, detailed instructions allowed my husband to complete the entire Hooker valley walk. I would absolutely recommend this tour and company to anyone I know coming to Christchurch. I’m only sorry I didn’t sign up for another tour with them.
