Mua Caves
After a 2-hour car journey from Hanoi, it's time for us to engage in some physical activity by ascending the magnificent natural Great Wall of Mua mountain, as well as exploring the Mua cave. This location offers the most optimal spot to admire the breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding area. Additionally, embarking on an early hike would allow us to avoid the oppressive heat and the large crowds that gather later in the day. As the day progresses, the heat intensifies and the site becomes heavily thronged by hundreds of thousands of tourists, all due to its viral fame. If you don’t like the touristy hike, alternatively, we have a 300-step, rugged hidden gem hike at the holy and secret mountain where you could feel the serenity of nature and breathtaking panoramic views of the mountains, forest, and surrounding villages.

5.00Chris and the tour are amazing! Communicative (texted us the day before and morning of with some tips), kind, informative, fun. We started the day with an hour-ish drive in a comfortable van, went to a breakfast spot, then to a trail up a mountain. It was beautiful and we got there very early before the crowds. We then had a 2 hour boat ride then lunch then a scooter ride around Ninh Binh and finally visited some temples/pagodas. Overall it was a great experience. I highly recommend going early with this group to enjoy some beautiful nature!

4.00Easy to understand English speaking tour guide who was very passionate about Vietnam and his heritage. The transport was clean and very comfortable for our long journey. Lunch provided had a good selection of vegetarian and non vegetarian options, note you will need to bring cash if you purchase a drink at lunch. It is later in the day so don’t skip breakfast. Ninh Binh is beautiful and peaceful and the tourists drawn to the site provide the area its main source of income for residents. We took the scooter option, recommend to wear pants and bring a jumper during winter, weather can change quickly. The climb up the lying dragon mountain was spectacular but you do need to consider any injuries as it is a big climb. The river cruise by canoe is pleasant and quite long but beautiful scenery through the mountains.

5.00Hieu was a wonderful tour guide. He is patient but also very efficient. He is good at communicating and leading the group as well as very knowledgeable. He is very fun to talk with and makes dad jokes to keep the vibes light during all of the travel and all-day activities.
