• A Fantastic Tour and an Even More Amazing Northern Lights Experience

  I joined a Northern Lights tour with Petra, and it was absolutely wonderful. Our amazing guide, Petra, took us to the best locations, which allowed us to see an even more spectacular display of the Northern Lights. The places where we watched the aurora were stunning—not only the lights themselves, but also the surrounding mountains and sea views were incredibly beautiful. Petra truly did her best to make the tour enjoyable for everyone. She took many photos for us, continuously shared interesting explanations, and stayed outside with us until everyone had enough time to fully enjoy the Northern Lights. Although she was our guide, I felt more like a friend traveling with us. Her passion was obvious, and her eyes truly sparkled. I was extremely satisfied with this tour and would highly recommend it to anyone.

  

• Wonderful chase with Angel

  Had a wonderful experience especially with Angel as our guide, whose only mission was for us to see the northern lights! He stopped at every opportunity and set up a camp where warm drinks and dehydrated expedition meal packs were given. Got amazing photos with, and of the northern lights as Angel is also a professional photographer who was busy snapping photos for the group the whole night.

  

  

• Great experience on a lucky night

  I got lucky that there was a lot of solar activity so we just had to find the spot with a gap in the cloud. Angel was very passionate and stopped at a random spot when he saw the lights appearing, the spot ended up being on the water side which have great pictures. Their site shows pictures from previous days adventures so you can see for yourself how successful they are with finding the lights. Took one star off as I keep getting messages post the tour but they seem to think I haven't yet arrived.

  

  

  

• Disappointing experience

  I have previously written to the company providing feedback/asking questions but received no response (for almost two months), so am now writing a review to share my opinion. Whilst I understand that seeing the northern lights cannot be guaranteed, I am disappointed in the overall experience as was my partner. In the confirmation email, arctic explorers write ‘if you have not heard from us, it means the tour is going ahead as planned because there is good enough weather somewhere within 1–3 hours’ drive away, either in Norway, Finland, or Sweden’. Due to this, I was then confused and disappointed why when we arrived we were told by the guide it was very unlikely we would see the northern lights as there is a strong solar storm. We were told that people in the UK were actually more likely to see the northern lights. I could not understand if this was known why the tour was not cancelled. We spent roughly six hours driving to three spaces (everyone only getting out of the minibus on one occasion where we ate), therefore the majority of the time we were on the bus just driving around in silence. This was to be expected to some degree, as it is a chase, but I did expect some sort of entertainment at times to keep the energy up, lift the mood and make this a memorable experience (stories etc) however most people just ended up falling asleep and I just listened to people snore. The guide did talk for a few minutes when we first got on the bus to tell us what caused the northern lights. Similarly, when we stopped it was quiet, I feel this could’ve been an opportunity for the guide to talk more about northern lights or even some campfire games etc (again, especially when it’s unlikely the group will see the lights to make up for it). We were given a hot drink and a dehydrated packet meal to eat which I understand took the guide and driver some time, but otherwise there was opportunity for more interactions. We had one group photo but no other pictures were taken which whilst we didn’t have the northern lights to be included, I feel this could’ve still be achieved just in the snow/mountains etc and ultimately is part of what is said is included and you pay for. The group photo is not on the website photo section at all either so still have no access to this. From looking at some other groups on the same night I can see that they did have photos in the snow regardless of the lack of northern lights. This is an expensive chase, and as being gifted this for my birthday, made the whole experience more disappointing. Again, I know that you cannot guarantee seeing the lights ever, but in my opinion, if it is known it is very unlikely that the light will be visible (which we were literally told by the guide) then the tour should be cancelled. I would also expect when paying this amount, that there would be other elements of entertainment provided to make the trip special, especially for when the lights aren’t visible as those on the tour are understandably disappointed. I liked that we were provided with snow boots and suits as we were warm. It was also nice that a fire was made when we stopped. This is why I have given 2 stars not 1. I do not mean to pass judgement on the guides specifically as I am sure they were just as disappointed in lack of visibility and this may have lowered their mood too! Finally, I would have appreciated a response from the company when I initially emailed as I was asking about the group photo in hopes to see the one photo of the evening and to share feedback, but a lack of reply has further created a negative view of arctic explorers.

• Great Custoner Service Abd Professionalism

  Great customer service and good operators. I did several activities that I arranged through Arctic Explorers. I found them to be very responsive to every question I had pre activity, and very accommodating when I needed to make changes.

• Unforgettable night with Petra and the lights!

  We had an absolutely amazing time with Arctic Explorers. There were four of us in a larger group of 12, and the atmosphere was perfect. Our guide, Petra, was exceptional: she took such great care of us throughout the entire evening. Not only did she find us some incredible Northern Lights, but her explanations of the science behind them were fascinating. What really made the night, though, was her keen sense of humour which kept us all entertained. We couldn’t recommend this experience more highly if you are in Tromsø!

  This experience was pure magic, and a huge part of it was thanks to our guide - Petra.Thanks to her, we didn’t just witness the beauty of nature -we felt the magic of the experience. • Comfy and educational tour

  We had a great experience with Barbara/Bara and Tomas on our mini-bus tour. Skies were clear near Tromso so we didn't need to drive far or stay out long for a wonderful display of northern lights. The guide did have an informative talk on the drive to the location on the science of the aurora, how the location was picked and why cameras see the aurora differently/better than our eyes. The evening also included a campfire (with reindeer skins to sit on), hot chocolate, dinner (delicious dehydrated expedition meals) and marshmallows. Also of course were several opportunities to have your picture taken with the lights. Amazingly the pictures were available to download within hours. The guides were also very helpful to help me get the right settings on my own camera. All in all a wonderful evening, made possible by clear skies and northern lights activity and made comfortable and educational by Arctic Adventures.

  I went on the mini bus northern lights tour with my family including my teenage sons. It was fantastic. Our guide Tomas was incredible - going out of his way to monitor the sky and adjusting a destination so that we got to see the lights on a night when many others did not. We got to see the Northern lights in a beautiful mountainous area near Sweden, which was in itself breathtaking. Tomas was brilliant throughout - he took loads of photos and made sure we were all well looked after. Also thank you to Adam for brilliant driving.
