From beginning of September to April the chances of seeing the Northern Lights in Northern Norway are great.
The weather (cloud cover) and the geomagnetic prognosis determine where the road takes us on the given day.
We will take you where the chances of clear skies are the greatest and the best locations for seeing the Northern Lights.
We go all in to find the Northern lights by checking 25+ different spots. Some nights we have a late return to Bodo (like 2 am).
Last seasons we have had a hit rate around 80 %. Before the trip starts we will advice on how the chances to see the lights are.
We head out from town in a comfortable Mercedes 7 seater van (4WD) with panoramic sunroof.

5.00We had an amazing Northern Lights tour with Ivar in Bodø! It was a small group (5 people) and such a fun, personal experience. Ivar drove us all over the area hunting for the lights and even included us in watching the weather and data so we could understand what we were looking for. He took tons of great photos for us throughout the night, both candid shots and group photos. We also stopped to warm up with hot drinks and treats in the van while watching the lights, which was such a cozy and memorable moment. Ivar is incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the outdoors and the northern lights. If you’re visiting Bodø and want a great adventure, I highly recommend booking a tour with him. Five stars all the way!

4.00The excursion with Ivar was great! We saw the Northern Lights, after a beautiful and long drive through the Norwegian polar night. He did his best to find THE spot by checking different places, you feel that he is a real enthusiast. He also gave us valuable information for the scientific understanding of these phenomena, which I think was a little too abstract. To fill it all in, we had great photos! I recommend:) Thanks, Ivar.

5.00My family and I had a fantastic Northern Lights tour on February 10, 2026. Ivar was the best driver and guide - very experienced in hunting northern lights. And he was really good at telling and explaining about the light and nature in Norway. And late in the evening Ivar found the most beautiful northern lights (and also algae), and we got many good photos home. All in all a really good trip, which we can warmly recommend.

5.00We went driving around hunting for the aurora, looking for dark places where the cky is clear. Ivar shared details how to check aurora forecasts, what factors affect visibility (weather, cloud cover, solar activity), and how he decides where to go each night. And best of all, we got to see them! It was an awesome experience. Highly recommended.

5.00Ivar and Alex were great and really knowledgeable about Bodø and explaining the likelihood of seeing the Northern Lights. Everyone on the tour were super friendly. There were hot drinks and snacks provided and also extra layers if needed. Ivar knows Bodo really well and had done research prior to the start of the tour to make sure we went to areas where we were more lightly to see the northern lights. I asked about stopped at saltstraumen and Ivar was more than happy to accommodate this. We did manage to catch the northern lights and it was amazing.

5.00Bodo was our first stop in Norway and we signed up for this Northern Lights tour. It did not disappoint! Ivar was our tour guide and was in full contact with our small group ahead of the tour to make sure we were all coordinated for the evening. Despite it being a snowy evening, Ivar was a master of tracking down the right location to view the Lights. He shared and explained the links to the various meteorological websites that help guide us in knowing the best times, locations and conditions for seeing the lights. We never knew about such technology but it was a great assistance in providing a wonderful light show! Along the long drive to see the Lights, Ivar was a great conversationalist and we got to know him and our travel companions from Italy. Part of the fun in traveling to see new places is meeting people from around the world. It makes it more of a memorable experience! Not only did Ivar do a great job in finding the lights, but he also gladly took and shared some beautiful photographs of the Lights, scenery and our group. He also served some snacks and a delicious black currant tea, which was very welcomed on a chilly night! Overall, it was a fantastic experience and one we will not forget. If you are in the Bodo area and seeking to see the Northern Lights, we highly recommend that you use Nordland Adventures and Ivar. You will be very happy you did so!

5.00My first Northern Lights sighting - it was an unforgettable beauty🤩! Ivar has taken us purposefully to various places in the mountains and on the beach. Between the individual hotspots, he kept an eye on the forecasts for the next sighting and explained a lot about the formation of Aurora, Sun, Earth, etc. Although my English is bad, I could understand his explanations. He also speaks a bit of German, so I felt in good hands the whole time😁. We were a small group (2 people), in his car have 5-6 people space, which I find ideal for such a tour. A tour with him I can absolutely recommend! I would book with him again immediately!

5.00We did the trip with Ivar, who was great from the start. Early contact, and went to pick us up early, when the forecasts looked good. This was fortunate, as the lights were gone later in the evening, so we are grateful for the lights we saw in the early evening. We did get to see a lot of beautiful places, even without a big light show above. He was great to show us the different resources they use to investigate the probability of seeing the lights and about the lights in general. Really interesting to talk with in general Also, he had snacks and hot drinks, which always wins me over. Lastly, when we had been driving for several hours without much luck. Ivar took the effort of a detour, to find moose, which we really wanted to see. And we succeeded in finding a young one very close by. So all in all, a good experience, despite the lack of activity in the sky
