While Oxford is known for its universities, it’s also an iconic destination for historic pubs. On this guided tour, you’ll visit the oldest, most famous and the hidden gems, all while hearing about famous patrons including American presidents and writers.
Start by meeting your tour guide at the iconic Carfax Tower. From there, you'll hit the streets and visit The Turf Tavern, which dates back to the 14th century. Pass by The Bear Inn, and The Lamb and Flag, and hear about the famous regulars over the centuries, including J.R.R. Tolkien.

Carfax Tower
Meet your tour guide at Carfax Tower, located at Queen St. The iconic tower is the highest point in the city, and features six bells which are rung on special occasions. Also known as St Martin's Tower, the structure is all that remains of the old St Martin's Church, which was demolished in the early 20th century.
Stroll along the High Street of Oxford, lined with local shops, cafes and fantastic pubs.

5.00Are tour guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour fun. The only problem nobody contacted us to let us know the time of the tour had changed however the man at the tower was very helpful

5.00This was a great tour. I learned a lot about the Oxford pubs, the guide was very knowledgable and provided local colour with his own stories as well as those about famous alumni. Unlike other tour companies, this one was not cancelled even though it was only a small group.

5.00We were lucky enough to get an intimate tour of the just the three of us. The guide was clearly very knowledgeable and interesting and we particularly enjoyed the local rumours and stories that accompanied the taverns and the town history. The taverns were the back drop to some fascinating history and I would recommend to anyone who has a passing interest in beer.
