Have you always wondered what it’s like to breathe underwater? If you want to try scuba diving, but aren’t quite ready to take the plunge into a certification course, Discover Scuba Diving is for you. Discover Scuba Diving can be credited towards the PADI Open Water Diver certification. The dive portion is from the boat to the second largest barrier reef in the world and if you enjoy the course, it is the first step towards completing your Scuba certification.

Minimum age: 10 years

Duration: half day

Max depth: 12m/40ft

Includes all equipment & wetsuit

Course includes:

Confined Water exercises

Open Water Dive

Course length: 3-4 hours

My wife experienced diving for the first time in Roatan. We researched all the local dive shops available in West Bay and they all have great reviews. We decided on West Bay Divers and made the best choice possible. Our instructor Takeshi, was friendly, reassuring, patient, and an absolute joy to be around. He is one of those guys who you could immediately become friends with. Our first dive with him was so enjoyable we immediately booked a second dive. In addition to Takeshi the rest of the staff (Boat Captains, Other Instructors, etc..) everyone was personable, friendly, and all around amazing people who made you feel welcome and like you were part of their secret dive club. I could not possibly give this place a higher recommendation. 100/10 rating, if you want amazing people around you for an amazing experience then please see the amazing team at West Bay Divers!!!

Excellent diving with my 10-year-old son. We went with instructor takeshi for a dive. He was super attentive to my 10-year-old son on his first cylinder diving. He loved the experience and it was all excellent!

Joel was so patient and helpful and made all of us feel extremely safe and attended to during our first scuba dive ever!! We can’t wait to get fully certified now!

My friends and I had a wonderful first-time scuba experience while in Roatan. Our instructor, Karim, was informative, articulate, friendly, patient, and attentive to our safety throughout the dive. Everyone at the West Bay Dive Center was professional and friendly. I would recommend them to anyone!

This was our very first time scuba diving. My husband had dreamed of doing this for years and finally talked me into trying it. I hate snorkeling and I hate water in my nose and ears but Joel our dive instructor was so calm and patient and explained everything so well. He eased my fears and helped me have an amazing dive. I’m hooked and we can’t wait to do it again. Can’t recommend Joel and the team at west bay divers enough!

We took the Discover Scuba Dive with Arturo and could not have had a better experience. He was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and always excited about introducing us to diving and all the amazing fish and coral. I was a bit nervous and it all went away as he walked us through our skills and we got into the water. Arturo handled everything for the dive and underwater pointed out all kinds of things. We liked it so much, we scheduled a second dive for the next day! Amazing array of fish, rare coral and a crab with claws as big as my arms. We are already planning on going back!

We did a discovery dive with West Bay Divers and it was amazing. The entire staff was so helpful and friendly. Our instructor Ceci was the best dive instructor we have ever had (we've done a few of these discovery dives on various vacations. We ended up booking a second dive on this trip because we enjoyed the experience so much.

West Bay Divers is the place to go if you’re diving in Roatan! Every staff member there is absolutely AMAZING! They are all so friendly, welcoming, patient and kind. We stayed at the Kimpton Grand Roatan where they put on a free introductory course and that’s where we met May. May was an absolute gem inside and out and was so patient teaching myself and my husband who was a first time diver. She explained everything so thoroughly and made him feel very comfortable in the water. So much so he was ready to book his first dive which we also went with May. We saw a turtle, nerve shark, eel and all the beautiful fish Roatan has to offer, along with a pilot whale sighting. It was truly spectacular, especially for my husband’s first dive. On our next dive we were with Mekela for both of our first two tank dives. We were a little worried with the weather that morning but Mekela and the other staff members had already planned ahead and moved the boats to the south end of the island where it was more protected. Once again we had a wonderful two dives and it was so magical. Mekela was also so patient and informative and really pointed out all the creatures hidden in the nooks and crannies, large and small. For our last two tank dive we were with Gaby who was such a sweetheart and again so so patient! It was a great last two dives for us especially because we saw eagle rays (which are my favorite). Our next vacation we plan to get certified and wouldn’t trust anyone else other than the staff at west bay divers to take us through it. Thank you all again for an amazing experience and making our honeymoon magical. Also a huge shoutout to our awesome boat captains Alex and Edwin (I hope I’m not getting the names wrong) who also made everything possible!

We did 3 dives over 3 days. My wife was nervous about the experience and had a number of concerns before we went. The dive instructor was phenomenal. He was patient with us as we worked through the skills and competent in dealing with issues and mistakes as they occured. And the things we saw. Eagle rays, stingrays, octopus, all kinds of coral and fish. It was a genuinely awe inspiring experience.
