The Royal Gorge Route Railroad is Colorado's top train experience and America's most scenic railway. Join us for an up and back journey through the winding Royal Gorge, along the Arkansas River. Indulge in made-to-order entrees for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; and your favorite beverages from our fully stocked bars featuring specialty drinks, beers, and wines from regions worldwide. Visit the open-air car any time, where you can soak in the breathtaking scenery, and feel a closer connection to nature.
In the tradition of railroad dining, unrelated parties may be seated together.
Choose:
Vista Dome: Comfortable booth-style seating with tables and unparalleled views from partially glass-topped dome cars.
Deluxe Class: Elegant seating with table for absolute comfort. Large windows reveal breathtaking views of Colorado’s Royal Gorge.
Coach Class: Features comfortable seating with new butcher-block style cocktail tables, and windows to take in the spectacular views.

4.00It was a wonderful experience! The open car is the best. For the price, it would be nice if a drink or snack was included. It was a great compliment to walking the bridge over the gorge.

4.00Old-school train ride through beautiful scenery. Leave the station, cut through mountain passes, along rivers, and up to old mining areas ( no stops there.) return trip on same trackage. Food and drink on board, open-air viewing car. Just a great few hours of day trip.

5.00Amazing and had the best host in our car - Daniel Lyons! I'd give him 5 out of 5 stars. My husband rode with the engineer and thoroughly enjoyed that.

5.00The views were unreal and our server Sandra was very informative and nice! Worth the money for the vista View train! But all of the train cars were really cool! We saw a lot of long horned sheep as well!

5.00Riding the Royal Gorge Route Railroad from the vantage point of the cab of a GM SD-40-3 locomotive is beyond comparison! The rails in front and the entire train behind snaking through the Gorge and next to the Arkansas River. Incredible up close and personal with the senior and junior engineers the entire trip. One gets to experience the nuances of operating the locomotive as well as the train in general. Captivating the entire journey from start to finish. A brief stop beneath the Royal Gorge Bridge overhead, for a quick, "I was there" photo shoot standing in front of the commanding presence of the locomotive and the shear walls of the rocky gorge on either side. As a lifelong railroad fan for over 65 years, this made the whole trip just that much more outstanding. I am sure I will return again!

5.00The 2hour drive (only there and then back) is breathtaking. On the way back you suddenly see other rock formations. Everything seems different. I saw a stone formation on the way there (also photographed) that looked like the head of Winnie the Pooh the Bear. Have a good time. The black strip was formed at the time when 'the' comet hit and wiped out the dinosaurs.

4.00While the train ride was enjoyable and the food was decent, I recommend you do your homework before you book. First, if you are not seated on the river side (luckily, we were) the view out your window is rock. The train does not turn around for the return; it goes back the same way, which means if you saw rock on the way out, you'll see rock on the way back. The staff were friendly, but when they talk, they don't have/use microphones, so it's very difficult to hear them. If you go out to the outdoor car (which I recommend you do), they do not have/use microphones either, so unless you stand right beside someone who is telling you what you're looking at, you're clueless.

5.00The ride was good as was the breakfast. The views were amazing, I got a lot of great photos! The story about Teddy Roosevelt’s visit to the railroad was fascinating but contained a factual error. Our guide/docent indicated that he ended up in a wheel chair with polio in his later years. This is incorrect. It was Franklin Roosevelt who was wheelchair bound with polio, not Teddy.
