We spent a wonderful 3 hours touring Chinatown with Yap. He was very informative and answered any questions in the group. He contacted us ahead of the tour to confirm meeting place and time and after our trip sent us a list of all the dishes we had sampled along with all the photos he had taken. Highly recommend if you want to learn more about the history of Singapore and sample some traditional dishes.

We spent a wonderful 3 hours touring China town with Weng. He was super informative and answered any questions we had. He contacted us ahead of the tour to confirm meeting place and time and after our trip sent us a list of all the dishes we had sampled along with all the photos he had taken. We got very lucky as no one else booked on and we therefore had a private tour. If you’re looking for more than just good food—if you want to taste Singapore’s history, politics, and heart—this Chinatown Hawker tour with Yong is an absolute must. From the very beginning, Yong welcomed us not just as guests, but as friends. What unfolded over the next few hours was far more than a food tour—it was a lovingly woven tapestry of Singapore’s culinary heritage, culture, and the story. We started with Nanyang coffee and kaya toast. Next came the cloud-like pandan chiffon cake, soft and fragrant with the flavors of Southeast Asia. As we explored Chinatown, we sampled savory-sweet bak kwa, perfectly crisp egg tarts, and rich, comforting chicken rice. Each dish came with stories of Singapore’s history and how hawker culture became a UNESCO-recognized treasure. We loved trying the whimsical butterfly fritter, the crispy, umami-packed oyster cake, and the refreshing crunch of popiah, hand-rolled with care. The carrot cake—both black and white versions—was a highlight, a savory dish that surprised and delighted. And the finale? A spicy, aromatic bowl of laksa that brought everything together in one slurp. This tour isn’t just about food, though the food is truly phenomenal. It’s about the soul of Singapore: its complexity, its resilience, its pride. Thank you, Yong, for feeding our stomachs and our minds. This tour will stay with us long after the last bite. — Shawn & Manny

Fabulous morning spent with our guide Colin, he shared his local knowledge of food, culture & history and blended this with our walk through china town. Colin made extraordinary effort to make the whole experience so interesting, yummy and educational. He matched and challenged our culinary tastes with a variety of dishes he selected for us to try- every one a winner! As my mum kept saying “they were to die for!” Maybe a little over the top but you get the idea! My mum uses a roller walker to get around and Colin accommodated her needs so well, slowed the pace a little and had enough rest stops to make the morning so enjoyable for us both. Thanks Colin - we will be letting all our friends know to join your tour when they next visit Singapore- exceeded our expectations! Thank you so much. Highly recommend this tour!
