Take a walk on the wild side of Tromsø on this small-group outdoor hiking tour and explore the Arctic nature on foot. You'll be taken to the countryside of Tromsø in the middle of beautiful mountains, fjords and valleys, where you and your group will snowshoe up a small mountain or along a valley with a guide. On the tour we will be using snowshoes, which makes it easier and a lot of fun to walk on the snow.
In the autumn months (October and November), you'll get to enjoy the colourful countryside before it is covered with a thick layer of snow. When there is not much snow, the tour is a hiking tour without snowshoes.

Snowshoes (snow rackets) are included, please give us your shoe sizes

Please advise any specific dietary requirements at time of booking as well as medical condition if needed
Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately. Make sure you wear warm and water resistant clothes and have an extra layer with you and shoes/boots that are suitable for hiking
It is recommended that you bring a bottle of water with you (0,5 liters shoud be enough)

Please be prepared for limited toilet facilities, there will be a gas station stop during the drive, however the camp itself is in the wild Arctic nature where the only toilet possibilities are in the forest (there are no pre-built facilities)
Minimum numbers apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if less than 2 passengers per tours. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund
Please arrive 15 minutes early, the guide must depart at 10am.
If there is no snow, or not much snow, we'll hike instead of snowshoe.

Northern Norway has a unique nature, which changes with varying colors and light of the four seasons. This tour takes you right in the middle of these amazing landscapes. The tour starts from Tromso city center, from where you will head to the coast on the west side of Tromso. With a small-group size (maximum eight people), you will have an intimate and cozy experience. You will be driven to the countryside of Tromso. Depending on the snow conditions and weather, the walk will be done either with or without snowshoes. In the autumn months (October and November) you'll get to enjoy the colorful countryside before it is covered with a thick layer of snow. In the winter, the landscape will be white with snow to play in. After the drive stretch your legs on a nice walk up a small mountain. The Arctic nature offers you an unforgettable experience. During the walk you can view wildlife and when you reach the summit you will be provided lunch. Your guide will take photos on the tour and share them with you after the trip, free of charge. Just enjoy the hike.

5.00Weather initially wasn't great which resulted in the operator arriving late and then offering us the opportunity to cancel or change tours. Glad I didn't as Gerard adjusted the tour really well and was a good guide. Snowshoed through beautiful countryside, not a challenging hike. Photos were taken and small snack provided. Really enjoyed it.

5.00Snowshoe hiking was a great and adventurous experience during our stay in Tromsø. Our tour guide, Aneta, was very engaging and gave us plenty of time to capture the amazing Arctic landscapes along the hike. Snowshoes were provided, and our guide brought a variety of hot drinks, sandwiches and biscuits. It was a small group, which made the experience even better. It’s definitely one of the best ways to explore Arctic nature and sceneries.

5.00We were accompanied by guide Henrik. He did a great job, he was enthusiastic, told it interesting and did it with genuine passion. He also had the right dose of humour. The trip was very nice, special and well cared for. Henrik regularly checked if we were doing well and how the cold was going. The sandwich and drinks were very tasty. A beautiful trip with beautiful views in the real wilderness.

5.00It was wonderful. The guide Fabian and our Welsh driver lady were so helpful to me. I was a beginner to snow activities and they made me feel very comfortable and did everything possible to solve my problems. The views were breathtaking and the food and drinks were soothing. I loved the Masala Chai (Spiced Tea).

Snowshoe hike is a great way to enjoy Tromso

5.00The team at Wondering Owl took great care of us and showed us some incredible fjord landscapes. We went on a nice snowshoe hike in great weather and the guides shared plenty of interesting tidbits about Tromso and the fjords. Some cozy drinks at the top and a good sandwich and then we headed down. All in all it was a great way to be out and about in Tromso admiring the incredible landscapes. Shout out to Mia she's definitely my favorite guide after this trip!
