Angkor Wat
Wake up before sunrise, and be ready to depart the hotel by around 5:00 am. You will be taken to Cambodia’s most well-known temple, Angkor Wat. You can soak in the sight of this ancient monument as the sun slowly rises over it. This is an utterly unique experience that you will be grateful for not missing. After the sunrise, we'll explore the world’s largest religious monument and the vast grounds which surround it. After Angkor Wat, you will be returned to your hotel to get some breakfast.
Bayon Temple
Once you’re done with your breakfast, you will be taken to another of Cambodia’s biggest temples, the Angkor Thom. This temple, whose name translates directly to Great City, was the final capital city of the great Khmer Empire. You will be taken to the South Gate of the temple complex, from where you can explore the beautiful temples inside it. The place is made of sandstone and laterite, and is constructed in the Bayon style of Architecture. After this place, you will be taken to the Bayon Temple, one of Cambodia’s most famous temples.
After visiting the Bayon, you will visit the Khmer temple of Ta Prohm or Tom Raider temple. This temple has been aged by the centuries, and has quite a few trees growing around the ruined buildings. It thus is a very unique experience to photograph and visit. After enjoying a lunch near the temples, you will go on to explore the floating village at Tonle Sap lake.
Tonle Sap Lake
You can gaze at house built on stilts, as well as the river itself. You will be taken on a cruise of the river and see Cambodian people hard at work, fishing or working in their fields. Afterwards, you will be returned to your hotel, to get a good night’s sleep.
Banteay Srei
At around 7:00am, be ready to leave for Banteay Srey. This temple is widely called the jewel of the Khmer empire. This is because of its miniaturized buildings, which, though of the same style and architecture as other Khmer temples, are much smaller.
Prasat Beng Mealea
Afterwards, you will visit Beng Mealea. This temple is on UNESCO’s list of World heritage sites, thanks to its history and architecture. The name of the temple translates into Lotus Pond, and is definitely worth a visit for its lovely architecture. There is a raised platform you can walk around on instead of simply picking your way through the ruins. Once you finish exploring these temples, you can get lunch in the vicinity.
In the afternoon, you will be taken to discover the Roluos Group of temples. Begin at the Lolei, which is in the middle of an artificial lake, on its own island. There is a two-tiered pyramid in the temple, as well as 4 towers remaining. The construction is a testament to the baroque and classic Khmer styles of architecture. In the afternoon, you will be taken to discover the Roluos Group of temples. Preah Ko
Next up is the Preah Ko temple, which has 6 lovely towers placed in two rows, which are monuments to the ancestors of the man who built it, King Indravarman I. The last temple you will visit today is the Bakong.
