My wife and I decided to do this on our wedding anniversary as we thought it would be something to remember- it was but not necessarily for all the right reasons! The good part was the sushi making- We made 8 pieces of sushi and they all tasted fine. We were also offered just one soft drink during the 1.5 hours. From the description given we thought it would be something quite cultural -with a deeper understanding of Japanese culture, the history of sushi etc. It turned out to be very gimmicky, dressing up as Japanese sushi masters, including bandanas, playing a game with chopsticks and doing some silly dance with rice ball moulds!! A bit of fun but not really adding much value!! Having done it I can see the description still covers the actual event so hard to say it is deceiving but we didn’t consider it to be value for money. We were also given a t-shirt each and some origami pieces. Not sure what Viator add as a mark up but for £210 (¥40,000) we could have had a fantastic meal with wine in a top grade restaurant. You can do a walk in sushi making starting at ¥4400, which seemed much more value for money although I guess you don’t get as much to eat. Overall it was a bit of fun but it is over priced by a huge margin, leaving you feeling that you have been caught in a tourist trap- hence the 2 stars, which is quite generous tbh. A note to the person operating this- take out the gimmicks and reduce the price to something that is fair. If you want to add something to make it unique then add something of value- some history of sushi, how to make the sticky rice etc.
