The Deathly Dark Tour of York is a grim and theatrical, dark comedy walking tour, perfect for those who have a bit of a wicked streak and are looking to explore the dark and spooky history of the city with one of our guides, famous for their wonderfully dark sense of humour.
Please note, this is NOT a scare attraction, it is a storytelling experience.
The tour is family friendly, but some may find the stories upsetting. If you have a specific phobia or trigger please reach out to us before booking.
Children must remain with their parent/guardian at all times.
Tour group size is 20-50 people, although this will change depending on the season. Private and small group tours are available on request.

5.00My partner and I took a tour last night and had Dalton Deathly as our guide, who was great! The tour was funny and engaging, and included spooky stories about York I hadn’t heard before. It included a little bit of audience participation but no one was forced to join in (just incase you are a little shy). It lasted about an hour which I found a good amount of time for my attention span and the cold weather! The walks from place to place were quite short, but there are cobbles to be aware of. Our guide kept us safe from traffic and warned us about low head heights and uneven surfaces. If you love ghost and horror stories I would recommend this tour, and there is also a new shop/ ticket office to check out too :)

5.00Thoroughly enjoyed our little ghost tour last night! Dalton was our tour guide and his story telling was spot on. He had all his audience engaged and listening to every word. It was a good mix of spooky ghost stories and comedy acting. I have nothing negative to say and will definitely be booking this next time I come to York.

5.00Dalton was our tour guide. Hilarious, informative brilliant acting. I booked this for my birthday with my husband and it was a great experience last night. The fact it was raining only made it better as it added to the ambiance. Very reasonable price overall a fantastic experience and I would recommend anyone to book with these guys 😊

5.00Visit to one of our favourite places in the country made all the more enjoyable by an evening in the company of the brilliant baby of the Deathly family, Davina. We were thoroughly entertained and educated with an awesome and engaging telling of some of the classics in York's spooky history, including Flossy at no 41, the Barghest, 5 College St, The Golden Gleece, Gruesome George, Ivar the Boneless and Robert Aske at Clifford's Tower. All told with aplomb and met with a deserved round of applause at the end. They're not award-winning for nowt, folks. I'd also recommend booking direct with the company rather than through a third party website like booking dot com as it'll save you a commission.

5.00Dalton was absolutely AMAZING! Loved this tour!!! First time in York with my adult son, his partner and my 15 year old son. We all loved it and I would highly recommend!!! Get it booked!!!
