The extensive collection of movie memorabilia that relates is just the beginning as the last section that documents Vienna in the years leading up to occupation and after the end of the war is something that I did not see documented anywhere else in Vienna to the extent that this museum has it, Clearly this museum is a labor of love by the founder and his wife!

Wow - what an experience! I've been a fan of the movie, the Third Man, and have watched it multiple times. This film, starring Joseph Cotten, Orson Welles and war-ravaged Vienna, is considered by many to be among the 100 best. We had a private showing after a whole day tour of the film locations. Even so, this museum and the private tour led by co-founder Gerhard was a unique experience, unwrapping heretofore unknown information, delighting the eye and the brain. Gerhard and his partner Karin compiled rooms full of pictures and exhibits, not only documenting the film production, its international theater release, actor memorabilia, but also provided a visual portrayal of the times - post-War Vienna and the rivalry between the West and the Communist Bloc. The sheer volume and quality is remarkable to me, when I realize that this work was compiled by just the two of them without any additional government or corporate assistance. Indee, a true labor of love. While we benefited from a private tour with additional insights from Gerhard, one could also view the collection during regular Saturday hours. Even if you are not a dedicated fan of the movie, you will find this museum an excellent introduction to modern Vienna.

Loved this place. Clearly a labour of love for the owners and staff. Particularly enjoyed the vintage film show and exhibition on Vienna after the war, but there are countless titbits about a great film. Inspired me to go take a ride on the famous ferris wheel.

Just take your time and enjoy the whole experience. This is a must see place. The owners and staff are extremely friendly and very approachable. We changed the date of our holiday when we realised it was closed over winter and we are so glad we did.

This was such a brilliant experience. A unique exhibition, presented by obvious enthusiasts. Not just about the obvious subject matter, but an excellent history lesson.

We took this fascinating tour with Gerhard our first few hours in Vienna and we are so glad we did!! It was a great way to get familiar with the city while learning about the history of Cold War Vienna. Gerhard is so knowledgeable about his city and about the movie that inspired the tour, "The Third Man." It was a delight to spend 2.5 hours with him and to end the tour at his amazing museum. We highly recommend this experience!!

Absolutely fantastic place, whether or not you are a The Third Man fanatic. Incredible history of Vienna before, during and after WW2. But truly amazing collection of artifacts from the movie: it's script, stars, location, production - everything. The most amazing thing is that this is a labor of love - not a commercial enterprise - created by an astonishing couple who are passionate about the film, The Third Man, and the incredible moment in history that it captures. Besides having collected and creating the phenomenal exhibits, the couple - Gerhard and Karin - are the most lovely people. When you come to the museum you will undoubtably meet them and instantly strike up a rapport. To my astonishment, they ended up giving me a gift: a film poster that they took right off their wall!! I will certainly visit them - and the museum - again and again.

This tour, which takes you beneath the streets and buildings of Vienna, is definitely worth doing. The general prejudice that all olfactory senses are offended by a bad smell is not true. Even if it doesn't smell like perfume, it is very easy to bear. Tip: Don't start this tour wearing flip-flops or sandals; you will walk over wet areas, but you will never be in the water. It is well worth seeing what is beneath Vienna.

Great museum. Totally surprised by this museum. Visited with my wife and adult son last Saturday and we all loved it. We got to meet the couple who built the museum who were passionate about The Third Man and it’s connection with Vienna. We are museum buffs and have visited museums all over Europe and although small compared to the bigger museums it packs so much memorabilia into the three buildings it is just as enjoyable. Great layout and story telling about the movie. Although not required I’d recommend watching The Third Man before going. I hadn’t watched it in 15 years and was able to rent it online. It really is a great film and this museum does a great job of showcasing it!

The owners of the museum are super friendly and just in good spirits. It is funny that you can access the individual areas of the museum via three doors. In addition, you come out of the basement back to daylight (unlike Harry L., who didn't make it in the end). Much worth knowing about the film and its creation. There is also an interesting section documenting the situation of the city shortly after the war. My wife and I enjoyed the visit and will, with more time, go again
