To’ak Chocolate and Fundación Guayasamín have teamed up to create the Chocolate & Art
Experience, a one-of-a-kind journey in Quito that celebrates the rich history, art, and chocolate of Ecuador.
Ecuador’s native son, Oswaldo Guayasamín, is one of Latin America’s most celebrated artists. His work has been on display in many of the finest museums and galleries in the world. Guayasamín’s house, along with the Capilla del Hombre, is one of Ecuador’s most iconic attractions.
To’ak Chocolate, born and based in Ecuador, uses the oldest and rarest cacao variety on earth to make extremely limited editions of single-origin Ecuadorian dark chocolate. Its flagship edition was aged for four years in a French oak cognac cask and retails for $385 per bar, considered the most valuable chocolate in the world.

When they say an "experience" they truly mean it. It was my first time in ecuador and I was there for two weeks, there were so many beautiful places and moments but La Capilla del Hombre and my tasting with To'ak was genuinely unforgettable. Carl and Dennise are incredibly gracious people they are also so passionate, and knowledgeable about their chocolate. Their enthusiasm was contagious and I haven't stopped thinking about their chocolate since I came back home. When I arrived I started with a tour of the museum, I had never heard of Owaldo Guayasamin and I have to tell you I was very impressed with his art and his message. You'll see it for yourself, its really amazing. Once I went through la capilla del hombre I began the tour of his house which was equally as impressive. When that concluded I was met by Dennise and Carl for my tasting in Quayasamin's wine cellar and they told me all about how their company started and about the cacao from which they make their chocolate. I tried two different kinds of cacao nibs as well as about six different chocolates (if i remember correctly) there was also a pairing with alcohol but I don't drink so I didn't do that. I could honestly go on and on about it but the point is you really have to be there to really understand. The art, the chocolate, its just something you will not experience anywhere else. 100% would recommend, its a small price to pay for an amazingly enriching experience.
