  Most of the tour was in silence going from one location to another. The tour guide had little information to provide.

  We were ably guided by Manuel and driven by Georges; both fantastic at what they do (Manuel full of useful information but also hugely personable; Georges a very competent and safe driver). I think this is the right tour - we visited St Pierre, Mt Pelée and Saut Gendarme waterfall. Definitely take a towel and swimmers to take a dip in the pool at the base of the waterfall, very refreshing… with Manuel’s commentary, this was a great way to see a chunk of the north of the island.

  This was the only “experience” we took that wasn’t just a beach day. Stephan, our guide, was very informative and fun. We got to see so many interesting parts of Martinique. He took us to a small local spot for an authentic lunch with great rum drinks. This wasn’t included in the tour, but our small group really wanted the full Martinique experience and we sure got it. My only recommendation would be to wear sneakers or sturdy sandals. We climbed to see a waterfall, and it was a little treacherous.

  When I booked this tour through Viator, it said it left at 9 o’clock. It also said it was going to make a stop at a rum distillery. The morning of the excursion I saw I got a message through Tripadvisor telling me the tour will be starting at 10 o’clock. I asked in the chat for clarification. I was in my cabin on the cruise. It was 8:45 AM I didn’t have time to sit around and wait for them to respond because I was afraid I was going to arrive late for the tour ,and they would leave. Upon arrival, I come to find out that I have over an hour before they left ,no real explanation as to why they started an hour later, so my husband was not pleased after we left the cabin in a rush, and he didn’t even have his morning coffee. The excursion said it was giving beverages, alcohol, alcoholic, and non-alcoholic. The first stop was at a very old church just like the tour described. You had a few minutes to go look at the church and come back on the bus .After the first stop we went to the waterfall, which was quite treacherous to walk on slippery muddy rocks 2 people falling down ,my husband, and I opted just to stand back and watch from above. The next stop was an old prison with an explanation of the prisoner who was the only soul survivor after the eruption of a volcano. At this point it’s quite hot out, and people are thirsty, and the tour guide brings you into a little souvenir type place where you are led to sit down and watch a video not exactly anything anyone on the bus was interested in most people walked out and bought themselves bottles of water and ice cream. The excursion had said, they provide beverages, alcoholic, and non-alcoholic, but at no point where we offered them yet.. instead people decided just to purchase water on their own because at this point they were very thirsty back on the bus Magdy the tour guide was trying to engage with everyone telling stories about the different food that is popular in Martinique letting us know that she doesn’t know because she’s a vegan though.. telling us about the wonderful Room distilleries but then unfortunately we will not be going there today and that’s when I spoke up and said when I booked this, it said rum distillery and then another lady on the tour said that’s absolutely correct. she read the same thing as me and Magdy apologized and said no we’re not going to distillery that’s not on the agenda…. and then the next step was supposed to be a beach and she proceeded to ask us if we wanted to go to the beach or if we would prefer to get food being that this tour started an hour late. Most people were hungry and wanting food so she brought us to a restaurant on the beach where we were all able to purchase lunch for ourselves and at that point she gave out water bottles and came around with some kind of a punch with alcohol. this tour was not worth it. It was basically getting on a bus spending a few minutes in a church back on the bus to go to a waterfall quite dangerous to walk down to if you were in so inclined and then get off the bus walk up stairs over cobblestone steps and go see what’s left of a prison cell go back down the stairs go into a souvenir shop to go watch a movie that you could watch on your phone on YouTube and then go to a restaurant on the beach because basically you are starving and have to insist that you need food not worth it. Don’t waste your time.

  I missed my tour today with no fault of mine. There is two exit gates only hundred yards between them I was at the gate where all the tour buses and guides was picking up there clients. I started getting worried and ask around, that is when I was told that I should have been told to wait in the area of white tents. They did not come down to check if I was where everyone was departing for there tour only hundred yards away. Big disappointment. Company personal should have known better. They knew I was not ship passenger I told them as well wrote to them.

  Lots of switchbacks on the North side tour . Beautiful rainforest and falls . Plan on walking through 6” of water crossing a creek to see the falls .

  Jane was a great tour guide. She was very patient with all the guests and explained things well. She was kind and even offered to take pictures of the guests. The stops were nice. The mini-van was very uncomfortable. The AC was not working well. At times the driver would have the AC off and the windows rolled down. We were sweating. I mentioned it to the guide at a stop and she talked to the driver. He put the AC on but it was not working properly. The guide even looked hot and miserable. The passenger in front of me stated he felt sick due to the heat. Passengers in the back were miserable. Our last stop was to include rum tasting at the beach. We asked and she said the person who packed the cooler forgot to put the rum in. She ended up calling the supervisor and told us she was going to come and give us each a small bottle of liquor. This didn’t happen at the beach. All the passengers agreed they were expecting rum tasting and it was in the description of the tour. Thank goodness there were two tables in the shade for us to sit at. This beach had no other facilities. It was time to leave the beach, Jane told us the person bringing us our small bottle of liquor will meet us at the drop off location. We had a hot ride back to the cruise ship and Jane told us to wait in the van and she will go get our little bottles of liquor. We had enough of being in the hot van and exited the van. We tipped Jane and went back to our ship. I contacted Viator and asked for a partial refund. (Not 50% like they requested from the tour company) We were denied a partial refund. I just wanted to be compensated for what was missed in the tour. We were really looking forward to the rum tasting at the beach. Tour description states “transport by air-conditioned mini-van or small bus” and “beach stop with rum tasting”. I will be back in Martinique in a few days and wanted to do the South Island tour with this company but now I want nothing to do with them.
