Clear Creek is one of the best whitewater rafting rivers in Colorado, and for great reasons. The canyon offers all levels of whitewater challenge, and easy access. The setting includes scenic flats, mining ruins, wildlife, and, of course, exciting whitewater flowing over rocks.
Nearby is Idaho Springs, where the gold rush began. It is the first city founded in Colorado, in 1859. This quaint town is nestled in the foothills of some of Colorado’s best mountains and holds a unique place in the state’s history. As the place where the Colorado Gold Rush started, this little town holds a lot of secrets, including one of the best river rafting areas in the State!
Conveniently located about 30 minutes west of Denver, and close to Breckenridge, Silverthorne, Dillon, and Winter Park, Clear Creek has rafting trip options for varying ability and experience levels.

What To Expect
Looking to step it up a notch from a beginner rafting trip? Choose the Intermediate option. Our Intermediate raft trip is a great choice for experienced paddlers or aggressive first timers craving the thrill and challenge of whitewater. With a steady dose of fun and challenging rapids, this trip requires active paddling and participation as we navigate the river as a team. First time paddlers and experienced paddlers alike are welcome, but active paddling is required and you must be at least 14 to participate. Being in good physical condition and having the ability to swim are recommended. Clear Creek is steep and narrow, and this section passes through over a dozen rapids as the river drops about 75 feet per mile. Listen to your guide, hold onto your paddle and get ready to get wet! This exciting stretch of the river is Clear Creek’s most popular trip with continuous class III and IV rapids. Navigate rapids with such names as Nomad, Fall River, Phoenix, Deliverance, and the class IV climax, Outer Limits Rapid.

5.00We had the most amazing white water rafting experience rafting experience with Colorado Rafting Company! After making a mistake with our booking as I had accidentally booked for the wrong date, the staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating, even though it was totally my fault. As we were pushed for time, they organised for us to go on our own separate trip as the other groups had already left. The team were so kind and generous which made the trip great before we even left. Our guide, Graham Bates, was incredible! From the safety briefing to rafting itself, he was very enthusiastic, informative and fun. He clearly knows his stuff and loves what he does (he was delighted to be able to take us out which showed in how he treated us). He kept us safe in the rapids whilst also making it a super fun experience. If you’re considering a trip with Colorado Rafting Company, we would recommend asking for Graham if he’s around. This is one of our favourite days we’ve had in Colorado!

5.00It was so much fun, our guide Mikey was fantastic and my family had an incredible time carving up those rapids! We went at low water, but that just meant the rapids were a lot more technical then typical which added to the adventure. I really want to see this same section at high water at some point too. I really enjoyed how quickly we jumped into the rapids and how continuous the run was overall. I've rafted other rivers—Arkansas via Browns Canyon & Royal Gorge, Snake, and Poudre—none of these were as action packed as clear creek.

5.00We had the absolute BEST time rafting in Colorado, and our guide Mikey made the experience unforgettable! From the moment we hit the river, his energy, expertise, and sense of humor set the tone for an incredible trip. Mikey kept us safe while still giving us the thrills we came for — navigating rapids like a pro and making the whole crew feel confident and capable. He shared fun facts, encouraged us through every splash, and made sure we soaked in every bit of the stunning scenery (along with plenty of water!). You can tell he loves what he does, and it made all the difference. If you’re lucky enough to get Mikey as your guide, you’re in for a wild, fun, and safe ride. Highly recommend this company and experience — we’ll be talking about it for years!

5.00We had a marvelous time on the River! We had a mixed load of some experienced and some beginners… had a short Training course to prepare us all for what laid ahead. Connor and the rest of the crew were amazing… had one young lady extremely appreciative to go once it got to go time… Connor put her in charge of crew… told her exactly what to do and suddenly she turned into Captain Blythe! Relaying his orders to everyone… right side one… left side back!, all with big smile on her fave… Not bad for 11 year old … thanks for a great time and would highly recommend this location!
