Explore the natural wonders of Molokini Crater, a volcanic islet 3 miles (4.8 km) off the coast of Maui, on this snorkeling tour from Maalaea. Surrounded by clear tropical waters, this extinct cone is home to many species of marine life, such as fish, sea urchins, sharks, manta rays, and coral. Molokini is a marine preserve, meaning nothing can be disturbed, keeping the island and underwater environment pristine. You'll also explore Turtle Town, and admire native birds. Two water slides, a glass bottom viewing room, and a "leap of faith" are also available if you don't want to snorkel or finish early. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, soda, and juice are included.

Wheelchair accessible. Motorized wheelchairs and electric scooters are not able to be accommodated. Manual wheelchairs are allowed up to a maximum width of 28". Personal weight restriction of approximately 280 pounds due to the ramp configuration and ability of crew to assist in boarding the wheelchair with the occupant.
What To Expect
A tour with the Calypso is one of the most fun on Maui! This stable, high-speed, triple-decker catamaran will get you to two snorkel sites fast: Molokini Crater and Turtle Town, and with all the equipment you need and plenty of food on board, what more could you ask for? The Calypso leaves from Ma’alaea Harbor, and after you are welcomed aboard by your friendly crew, you can take a look at the delicious continental breakfast. After everyone is settled in, it’s off to the most popular underwater destination in Maui for some Molokini snorkeling! While you are enjoying the feel of the ocean wind in your hair. Molokini Crater is located between the islands of Maui and Kaho’olawe. This beautiful site is not only home to several fish species, but many species of birds, as well! The crater is a designated Marine Life Conservation District and bird preserve, so no fishing or climbing on the crater is allowed, but wearing flippers and a mask to watch the fish is perfectly wonderful. After your Molokini snorkeling, Calypso will whisk you to Turtle Town – a second snorkeling spot. Off the south side of Maui, Turtle Town is home to several large sea turtles as well as dynamic reef fish.

5.00The captain of the boat made customer satisfaction his goal (along with safety obviously)! He made calls quickly to help everyone get to snorkel with turtles, which was what we were after. The food was awesome and we left full! Very thankful for this experience!

5.00This tour was a 10 out of 10. The boat was beautiful clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and took the time to get to know you and make you feel at home. We snorkled at 2 different locations and had plenty of time to soak in the beautiful reefs and marine life in the area. We were even lucky enough to see dolphins and sea turtles. Truly the best experience and top notch customer service. Book this trip and you will not be disappointed.

1.00I get this is weather dependent but this was awful for the adventure we went planned for our family it was basically a 2 hour boat ride. We did not get in the water at all they tried one spot. Waste of $650 would never book with them again

5.00There are a lot of tour companies offering snorkeling trips to Molokini Crater and Turtle Town, so we spent quite a bit of time comparing options before booking. We specifically chose Calypso because we wanted access to an onboard bathroom, part of our group is prone to seasickness, and the larger boat seemed like a better fit than a smaller raft-style tour. We also liked the longer tour duration and the fact that Calypso had one of the latest departure times we found. We don’t have other Maui snorkeling tours to compare it to, but we were very happy with our choice. The boat was comfortable, well-maintained, and had great amenities. The crew was fantastic throughout the day, and the food selections were very tasty. The snorkeling itself was incredible. The water clarity at Molokini Crater was breathtaking, and being able to see the reef below so clearly was an amazing experience. Our second stop at Turtle Town was equally memorable, and seeing sea turtles in their natural habitat was a highlight of our trip. The only issue we encountered was before departure. My husband has a torn eardrum and cannot go underwater without earplugs. We accidentally forgot them, and since we were passing a few stores on the way to the harbor, I called the company to ask if earplugs were available onboard. I was told they were. However, when we arrived at check-in, a crew member informed us that they did not offer or sell earplugs. This resulted in a stressful rush and a long walk back to the stores and then back to the boat to make departure on time. Thankfully, I asked again before boarding, because not having earplugs would have completely ruined the experience for him. While that miscommunication was frustrating, it did not take away from what was otherwise an outstanding day on the water. Between the excellent crew, comfortable boat, great food, and incredible snorkeling at both Molokini and Turtle Town, we would absolutely recommend Calypso to anyone looking for a full-day snorkeling adventure in Maui.

1.00Unfortunately. I can’t give less than 1 star. It was a disappointing experience, and I would not recommend booking a tour with this company. I spoke with the crew beforehand and arrived on time as agreed, yet my family was left behind at the parking lot. My children were left distressed, waving their hands and crying as they tried to board the cruise, but they departed without them. on the boat. To make matters worse, the company has not refunded the $620 worth of tickets despite the situation.

5.00Great option with the family. Water was colder than I expected. LOTS of people on the tour. Ask the photographer for a video of you swimming or something. Wish we had requested. Watch her examples she has on the TV and get an idea of options. Bar mixed drinks were cheap, but strong!! All in all, I recommend!
