We at "Foodies Day Out" offer you the chance to experience the local cuisine as the natives do. We take you to places where no guide book can lead you to. On this tour, we travel across the city of Madurai, to taste the best culinary dishes the city has to offer. We drive around in a car to eat the best signature dishes of our local eateries and also walk along the streets to indulge ourselves in uninhibited eating spree. You will get to taste some unique "madurai" dishes, such as paruthipaal (cotton seed milk), thennam kuruthu (bark of the coconut tree), bun parotta, the super delicious Jil Jil Jigar Thanda etc.

5.00Soundarya (pronounced like Sandria) collected my son and I at our hotel, and took us to about 9-10–11 separate restaurants & street stalls introducing us to an exceptional variety of savories, sweets, breads, meats, treats, beverages, WOWZA! WHAT A BLAST! Before we started, she interviewed us to find out what foods we had already tried during our first two days here, as well as food preferences, allergies, etc. Both my son and I are “eat everything” types, without any allergies or dietary restrictions, so that was easy. She picked us up at 5:30 PM and by around 8 PM we were so full we couldn’t fit an additional drop of liquid in, so she dropped us back at our hotel and we waddled in. It was great fun and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

5.00Me and my girlfriend had a great evening out in Madurai with Soundarya trying lots of foods! She picked us up from our hotel on time and drove us all around the city in a comfortable car. Some of the food we ate included sweet snacks like laddu and jellies, ghee rice, dosa, idli, chutneys, milkshake and much more. The guide explained the history behind certain dishes and how to eat them. We finished feeling very satisfied and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

5.00We really enjoyed the food tour in Madurai. Our guide Mukunthan took the time to explain all the different local dishes and how to eat them which has greatly enriched our experience travelling in South India. It was great fun moving from one place to ths next trying difference dishes. Arrive hungry - you won’t regret it!

5.00The tour was very educational and delicious. We already know a lot about Indian food and yet it was a nice experience again and the food was good quality. The guide Mukunth was super pleasant, had a quiet riding style during transport in between and could give us a lot of extra information about India. A very educated man. Accordingly, the slightly higher price was the experience all times worth it.

5.00We had such a great time on the foodies day out tour. Mukunthan took us to delicious eateries, and ywe enjoyed everything we ate. It was great to get a better understanding of all of the food too. Mukunthan was great company, and an expert driver too! We would highly recommend the tour to anyone visiting Madurai, and have already recommended it to some fellow travellers.

5.00What a tour we had in Madurai !! The experience was amazing, and the tour was 100% customized for our specific diet : vegan and gluten free ! It is simple : we tested 16 different dishes thanks to our super guide who was born ans raised in the area we visited : because we come from Europe, we can be prudent about street food but there we just tested everything we crossed in the street : fabulous ! It worths every rupees, thanks again !!

5.00Palanivel, our knowledgeable host, took us to a wide variety of eating establishments basically one for every item of food we consumed. At the same time this allowed us to see a number of local sights all beautifully illuminated. Foodies Day Out has curated a great list of multigenerational, family run eateries highlighting the best of the local cuisine. We highly recommend this tour.

5.00Have a nice night out with the group we are traveling with. Took us to local places where we could not only taste dishes but also get acquainted with eating from a leaf and eating with the hands. My whole group returned to our hotel very enthusiastically and with a well-filled stomach. The guidance of the tour was also very pleasant; informative, quiet instructions and info and very sympathetic.

5.00We had an amazing trip to Madurai - visiting the Temples and shopping in the little alleyways around the Temple but the highlight was our evening with Foodies Day Out. Mukunthan is the font of all knowledge when it comes to the authentic local food in Madurai. All the places he took us were brilliant and we loved the variety. He's also charming and funny which made it a lovely evening. Would highly recommend! One tip - don't have much to eat during the day before you go on the trip 😊
