The 4x4 Extended backcountry tour offers all Highlight stops and additional stops that are not covered in the regular backcountry tour. Spend more time with your Navajo guide and indulge in an experience that uncovers the secrets, myths, and legends of the Navajo Culture. Navigate through 28 miles of Monument Valley's Finest spectacles where movies, commercials, and performances were made. Enjoy the luxury of exploring areas that are off-limits to normal travelers; and listen and watch your guide bring the monuments to life through its history, story telling, and live performances. Enjoy a visit to a local Navajo Hogan and watch a demonstration of the art of Navajo Rug Weaving. Behind the breathtaking Mesas, Buttes, Spires, and Arches there are hidden stories waiting to be told.
The Tribal Park Admission Fee is not included. ($8 per person)

5.00Larry was a WONDERFUL tour guide! He was very kind and accommodating. For the elderly in our group, he would get out a step ladder for the steep step down and would help people down. He is very knowledgeable about Monument Valley and its history. Would recommend this tour and Larry’s guidance to anyone visiting. We had a great time!!

Here is why this tour was the absolute highlight of our trip: Expert Storytelling & History: Larry has a deep, profound knowledge of the valley. His explanations weren't just facts read from a script; he shared the rich history and culture in a way that truly brought the landscape to life. Gentle & Patient Pace: He was incredibly gentle, warm, and patient with everyone in our group. We never felt rushed, and he took the time to answer every single question we had. A Magical Soundtrack: A standout moment was when Larry played an awesome flute melody for us right in the heart of the valley. The acoustics and the vibe were absolutely breathtaking—it's a memory we will cherish forever. Picture-Perfect Memories: Larry also went above and beyond by taking fantastic photos of us throughout the tour, knowing exactly where the best lighting and backdrops were. 5.00I recommend doing the Extended Backcountry Tour with Monument Valley Tribal Tours. This tour includes the 17 mile scenic drive, plus another 11 miles of even more beautiful arches and formations, The tour company was very accommodating when we had to change our date, and the pickup location at the visitor’s center is easy to find. Our tour guide was Larry, and he was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable of the history of the rock formations and the people who lived in and around them,

5.00Had a great tour, Larry was an incredible guide. At one point he played a handmade flute to share native music with us. Gained a better appreciation for the history of the place as well as the Navajo culture and history. Very worth the time and money for this tour!
