Curated especially for architects, admirers of good design, or urban photography fans, we cover rare access to civil engineering experimentation, city planning, heat management & socialism in play from the post-independence 1950's India.
The one day tour covers top 5 key highlights, and the second day divulges deep down in Jane Drew & Maxwell Fry's vision with rarely seen creations.
I've been a journalist for 11 years and am a 3rd generation citizen of the city. I spent 24 years of my life living in Corbus’s public social housing, studied in Pierre’s designed schools & went to Maxwell Fry’s designed offices – so I live, breathe, and exist as Chandigarh.
I started these tours via combining my research & journalism skills in learning architecture with hilariously entertaining storytelling to curate these unique small group tours

An amazing experience exploring this fascinating city. He says himself he’s the guide for the kind of person who doesn’t want a guide - and it really was like seeing the city through the eyes of a friend who lives there. I can’t recommend this enough for anyone visiting Chandigarh. Make sure he takes you to the restaurant with the best chicken you’ll ever taste!

Fantastic experience with Rusty in Chandigarh for a "most of the day" tour. Rusty was well-informed and a pleasure to spend the day with; tour was well-paced and covered a very good amount of ground, including being flexible with requests (was just myself, my wife and a third guest). Appreciated the pick-up and drop from hotel. Strongly recommend for a Chandigarh visit.

We had a great day on a private tour with Rusty. We saw lots of amazing Le Corbusier and Jeanneret buildings, including ones not usually open to the public (he has good connections!). We learnt a lot about the origins of Chandigarh and the planning of the city, and he was very knowledgeable about the architectural features. He was very laid back and funny, so it was like being taken around the city by a cool friend. He gave us a great recommendation for dinner as well. Would recommend!

This was my ideal day of getting to know a city. I cannot recommend Rusty highly enough. He has a deep knowledge and love of Chandigarh, which he shares in a fun, charming, and irreverent way. It was like spending the day with a knowledgeable old friend…being driven around expertly in a cool car..and that is important given how hot this city can get! If architecture is your thing, no question, he is your man. The little details and Easter eggs he points out along the way are fascinating. He really knows his Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, not just from the design perspective, but also from the sociological - how it fit into and influenced the fabric of this newly-created Indian city. There is so much to explore that I wish I had had the time to take his two-day tour. His passion is contagious. I know I will be back soon to continue the adventure.

I enjoyed 2 days with Rusty in March 2026 visiting Chandigarh. This is his home town and he has researched the best routes, buildings and photo opportunities especially for architects and fans of Le Corbusier. He adapted the tour to suit the participants and we were a small group of just 2. He picked me and the other participants from our hotels and drove us in his personal car. The car is clean, comfortable and air conditioned. Rusty is a careful driver and punctual. He provided bottles of water amd recommended interesting and good quality places to eat. I have no hesitation in recommending Rusty as a tour guide.

I enjoyed 2 days with Rusty in Chandigarh- it's his home town and you get a personal tour with lots of information. He has done his homework and has facts, dates, and figures and focuses on Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret's buildings. The Punjab University campus was a highlight. The library and student campus. You get access to the inside of the house Pierre Jeanneret lived in (ask Rusty about staying there - it's available for bed and breakfast). The residential areas were also fascinating and we walked past many of the typical housing types, gardens and alleys. The famous capitol buildings were only visible from a distance unfortunately since the government was in session. Check dates if you can before travelling. The art museum was another highlight and we enjoyed sitting by the lake and sneaky visit to the abandoned movie theatre. Rusty is enthusiastic and very chatty and can talk about anything. There were 2 of us on the first day when we did the university and capitol. Also 2 on the second day but a different person. Rusty adapted the schedule to suit us all. I was picked up and dropped off from my hotel and the tour was conducted in Rusty's private car which was clean, air conditioned and comfortable. Rusty is a careful driver and punctual. I felt safe and well looked after at all times. He also recommended good restaurants and shops. Do not hesitate to contact him beforehand for travel, hotel accommodation etc

The tour with Rusty was refreshingly original and fun! He is very well informed of the history of Chandigarh. Not because he is a local - which adds a distinct angle - but because he narrates everything you see with a sharp, broad and critical eye. And on top of it all, he is a very funny and brutally honest guy! I cant remember when I last enjoyed a tour this much. Book and dont think twice:)

I am a woman traveling solo. The tour with Rusty was great! I highly recommend it if you want to learn about Chandigarh’s layout and architecture. I visited other cities in India, and Rusty was by far the best guide I had there. In addition, he speaks perfect English, which allowed me to ask him about different aspects of Indian culture. As if that were not enough, he introduced me to an Indian dish I hadn’t tried before. Thank you, Rusty!

Excellent time with Rusty. He is deeply knowledgeable about Chandigarh, and we had many sophisticated conversations about the city’s layout, architecture, and life. He is a wealth of knowledge, and yet also extremely personable. So easy to get along with and emotionally intelligent. Aside from the excellent tour of Chandigarh’s architecture and urban layout, Rusty also took me for some amazing eats! He knows the city so well, and it shows.
