After crossing into Lesotho, the "Kingdom in the Sky," we continue through remote highland landscapes where rolling grasslands, mountain villages, and winding roads showcase the country's remarkable beauty. Along the way, enjoy refreshments above the clouds before arriving at the magnificent Katse Dam, one of Africa's largest engineering achievements. After lunch overlooking the dam and surrounding mountains, we continue through Lesotho's scenic interior before arriving in Hlotse for the evening. The most amazing way to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. An experience we will never forget. Mondli was the most wonderful guide and he went out of his way to fill each day with memories. Thank you Roof of Africa tours

We had the most incredible 4 day, 3 night experience in Lesotho with Mondli. He was knowledgeable, enthusiastic about what we were seeing and doing and was great company. He is also a bird whisperer - we saw all sorts of birds including both a female and male rock jumper. Thank you Mondli!

My husband and I went on a weekend tour to Lesotho with Roof of Africa back in September. I am very late in writing this review but we had a wonderful and very unique experience on our tour with Roof of Africa that I have to share. The night before we were set to go there was a large snow storm, we were told a storm that large in September had not happened since 1997! Off the bat they were accommodating and helpful. Due to the snow we changed our pickup plan the night before and they did not hesitate to ensure we were safe and comfortable. Our guide, Sandile, was the hero of the weekend. He took every curve ball the weather threw at us in stride. Due to the weather we were unable to reach Emile for almost the entire weekend. Sandile worked with us to make sure we were comfortable with each modification we made to the original plan. When we reached Sani Pass we learned that, due to the snow, it was closed and we would not be able to drive through the border. Sandile worked tirelessly to reach Emile and was finally able to from The Highest Pub in Africa. We had a flight to catch very early the next day so it was imperative that we made it down Sani Pass that day. Sandile and Emile were able to work out a plan to get us down, they even worked with the border agents to ensure we were able to pass through the border. We were to walk the first 2 kilometers of the pass that was snowy and impassable by car and Emile would drive the 6 kilometers that was drivable and pick us up. Not only did he make it up higher than initially expected to meet us but he was able to make it to the top to open the pass for the other travelers waiting to drive down. Roof of Africa went more than above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful time and made it back in time for our flight. We booked a tour through a different company (only because it’s in another part of Africa where Roof of Africa doesn’t operate) and the experience was nowhere near as good as we had with Roof of Africa so it’s safe to say their team is qualified and unique in their skills to ensure a safe and wonderful experience. It’s clear that they only hire the best which makes their tours well worth the price, my husband and I both work in customer service based jobs and we both felt like Sandile, Emile and the whole team cared about us and cared that we enjoyed our experience with them. They are an incredible team and we will most certainly book with them again given the opportunity.

Fantastic 4 day tour of Lesotho! It was just perfect, the country is so so beautiful, the kingdom of the skies indeed. Peter, our guide, was amazing, friendly, nice, and knowledgeable. We learnt so much! The accommodation was great, so was the itinerary. Who knows, maybe one day I'll be able to repeat?

We did a custom trip from Underberg through Lesotho and returned through Sani Pass back to Himeville. It was a 5 day 4 night tour and it was fantastic!!!! Mondi and Peter were our guides and they surpassed even our highest hopes. They were always attentive to any needs we had and had extensive knowledge of the history, people, birds and plants that we saw. The entire trip was awesome and Emile and Britany were both very helpful and accommodating throughout the booking and execution of the trip. It is a trip of a lifetime that we HIGHLY recommend!

We did a 4 day, 3 night tour of Lesotho and it was amazing! Our guide was Mondli (Mo). Mo was a very professional, punctual, knowledgeable guide and a skilled driver. We felt safe driving with him through the beautiful but rugged, very high, Sani Pass and other mountainous Lesotho terrain. He taught us a lot about the wildlife and the history and culture of the area and we enjoyed some interesting conversations. Mo also respected our needs and interests while still following the planned itinerary. The tour itself is definitely worthwhile and introduces one to the breathtaking landscape and unique culture of Lesotho. The accommodations and food were good , especially El Paso and our favorite, Semonkong with its cozy restaurant, delicious food and fireplaces in bedrooms. One thing to note, depending on where you begin and end your tour, drives can be quite long. They were longer than we had expected and if we had known we may have scheduled an overnight in Underberg as opposed to heading back to Durban which made for close to a nine hour drive. Also beware at the border! We had an issue with how our passport had been stamped (whether we had the correct visitors permit or not), which caused confusion and was an issue we had to deal with on the remainder of our trip.

First of all Emile amended this 3 day tour for us to pick us up in Durban at the cruise port and return us to the Durban airport on the 4th day to make our flight. It was an awesome experience and our driver Peter was excellent. We toured most of the country and had many different experiences that were wonderful. All the locations that we visited were very unique and educational as well. All accommodations arranged throughout the tour were excellent. On our final day which was mainly driving back to Durban, Emile had arranged a luncheon for us at a Private Game park. What a surprise. Emile went out of his way to make sure we had this tour and made sure that it would surpass our expectations and it did. I would recommend this company to anyone travelling in this area, their service is above and beyond what your would expect.

I would like to praise the guide Mondli for making us a fun, educational, and interesting trip. From the first moment we felt confident in his driving, we discovered his great knowledge in every field, the history of Lesotho, the approach to the locals, and especially in the field of bird watching which suited my husband's hobby - photographing birds. Mondli responded to our requests and supported us during the difficult times we went through following of the events in Israel. I would like to thank Mondli from the bottom of my heart and hope that there will be more people/guides like him.
