Hidden Baggage Costs Ruined My First WestJet Flight

1.001st time flying with WestJet, and probably my last. I was charged $110 for a carry-on bag. There was no clear signage stating that Zone 9 passengers are only allowed a personal item for free. If you’re a first-time flyer with WestJet, be aware: if you’re in Zone 9, only a personal item is included. I’ve flown with other airlines like Delta Air Lines and American Airlines, and I’ve never experienced anything like this. What made it worse was the attitude from some of the staff. I understand employees have to enforce company policies, but customer service still matters. If the overhead bins have available space, charging $110 at the gate feels excessive.

2.00Jet ski was fun. However it’s fun where ever you go on a hot day. This place right away asked for a 20 percent tip prior to giving us the experience. I didn’t have a large group and was a little annoyed that it was told it needed to be billed to our card upfront versus trying the experience. This is what is wrong with the new generation. They believe it’s owed to them versus earning it. I did two different jet ski experiences during the week and one got an awesome review and well this one I would pass if they demand a tip on the front end. The consumer should determine the tip. The ride didn’t happen right away and we made a lot more stops then I can ever remember following the leader. That led to less riding and more waiting. I also understand that we have different riders across the board but after ten mins everyone knew what they were doing. The jet skis were fast and the gentleman that lead the team of us was nice. Price was fair. A lot more places in the keys to try.

5.00Eric was phenomenal!! He took time to show us so much! From Jimmy buffets house to alot of other big influential people ;). Definitely one of the highlights of both mine and My girlfriends vacation. If you are on the edge if you want to do it or not Definitely go for it. They are also very patient with people who are new. Definitely better then any fury jet ski tour!

5.00We had an amazing time on the jet ski tour with JJ. The trip was so much fun. JJ gave clear, easy to understand directions for operating the jet skis and differentiated for the group of different abilities. We would book this again in a heartbeat- and request JJ as our guide!

5.00Absolutely fantastic! The price is just right for a wave runner for the time allowed! The group size was perfect (15 wave runners). It was nice that we could sort of choose our place in line. We reached max speeds for the jet skis which was exhilarating! We had 3 guides that were absolutely wonderful! They encouraged us to enjoy ourselves and kept us all in line and organized. This is a great activity for older teens and adults. Young kids likely won't like the high speeds.

5.00The team at Sunset was amazing! Our visit started with a smooth check-in and they provided recommendations for those of us who weren’t going on jet ski tour. We had to get back to our cruise ship 30 minutes after tour ended, and they promised to return right on time which they did to the minute!They gave us a shuttle ride to the port and our shuttle driver was so much fun! This was a great experience for our family, not to mention our kids had a blast on the jet skis. Highly recommend!

2.00A score of 1 to communicate... You are not riding a jet ski around the entire island of Key West as advertised. Nor should you do to waves and boat traffic. If this is what you are expecting, you will be disappointed to know you will donate lot of driving a ski around, and not really going anywhere.
