Overview

1 hour 15 minutes

Mobile ticket

This relaxed and scenic 7-mile roundtrip journey departs the Depot in downtown Fort Bragg year-round, traveling along the beautiful Pudding Creek Estuary and passing into primeval ancient redwoods to the tranquil setting of Glen Blair Junction.

Trains will stop at Glen Blair Junction for 15 minutes, allowing you to get off and stretch your legs and explore. Or, if you’d like to spend more time walking our trails amongst the redwoods, you can remain and catch the next train (roughly two hours later). Plenty of time to explore. Feel free to bring a packed lunch (no alcohol, please) to enjoy at one of our picnic tables.

These were some of the first tracks ever laid down by the California Western Railroad in 1885, and we've been carrying passengers on them ever since.

Good for families and rail enthusiasts. A gentle ride through nature. Good facilities at both ends of the ride.

Train ride was too short. We booked this so my frail sister would not have to walk, but could experience the estuary. Could barely see the estuary because of the trees and vines. Ride was only 20 minutes and then we stopped and got off. This was not was advertised and not worth our money.

Good place to experience the nature of north California. Overall positive experiences. The only caveat is the price: 20min one way (40min round way) train cost nearly 70 USD is relatively pricey.

You will feel like you have been skunked - totally NOT worth it! You spend more time at the turn-around on the ground than on the train. Of the 1 1/2 hour "trip," only about 30 minutes is actually on the train. The scenery is not great. Way overpriced for what it is. Save you money and find something else to do.

  • Nothing skunky about the skunk train.

The train is fun! Explore the surrounding ’village’ before your ride. The trip is fairly short but takes you out into the redwood forest. You can hang out in the fresh air bar or wander in the opposite direction for a more intimate experience with nature. ( my advice). Lovely trip!

We had a fabulous time riding the Skunk Train to the Glen Blair Junction. We enjoyed the ride, the trail, nature and the views of the beautiful trees. Since we took the first train of the day, it wasn't crowded. Enough people to be able to enjoy both space on the train and in the park. Though we were told the whole experience would take around 2hours, it didn't feel too long. I thought the length of the experience was spot on. I believe the experience justifies the cost. I want to make a special mention to the clerk on staff (Friday night and Saturday morning) I'm sorry I spaced out on his name. He was fantastic at helping me figure out that I'd purchased the wrong train. He offered to fix the issue, offer different options and give me all the information I was lacking. He did it with a pleasant manner and kindness. Hard qualities to come by nowadays, so Thank you! We had a really fabulous experience :)

  • Magical Train and Trail Experience

My husband and I and our friend greatly enjoyed the 3.5 mile trip on the Skunk Train along Pudding Creek. We liked the seats which were comfortable and convertible so you never had to ride backwards. The scenery was lovely and pulling into the lighted station and bar at Blair Glen was magical! Walking 3/4 mile redwood trail kept us busy admiring the mother trees and many redwood offspring. We enjoyed the trail so much we decided to walk back along the railway trail to Fort Bragg. There were so many wildflowers and views of Pudding Creek that it was a very pleasant walk back. The trail was a little rough in some places due to the ongoing work of replacing some of the railroad ties, but was mostly very level and easy. We plan to come again on the Skunk Train and Trail on our next trip to Fort Bragg with our grandkids!
