On our ghost walk, you'll travel the sea-sprayed Shore Path, where you might catch a glimpse of a ghost or even a sea serpent. You'll learn the history behind a variety of mysterious local incidents and expand your knowledge of the supernatural with accounts of the three major types of ghosts: residual manifestations, intelligent hauntings, and poltergeists. The weird tales include the strange goings-on at otherwise opulent lodgings like the Balance Rock Inn, the legendary Bar Harbor Club, and several other paranormal hotspots about town.
Marcus LiBrizzi, author of Ghosts of Acadia and Haunted Islands in the Gulf of Maine, two of the authoritative books on Maine's haunted tales, calls our tour "an unforgettable, spine-tingling tour of Bar Harbor’s haunted sites." Join us to discover for yourself.

Begin at the beginning with tales from the indigenous peoples who once called the area home. Some ancient monster sightings from the Wabanaki Confederacy's oral tradition curiously align with more contemporary accounts of encounters with unknown animals.
The Bar Harbor Inn was the scene of contemporary ghost reports and once the site of a private club for wealthy gentlemen called The Reading Room. One of the club's members, although not really a Ghostbuster, helped pave the way for authentic parapsychological research.

Our guide, Doug, was informative about the different types of ghost/spirits. He had a great way of tying the supernatural into relatable and historical events in Bar Harbor.

The guide was likable and a good storyteller. He knew a lot about the area and actually had a degree in folklore.

This was a nice tour with a very friendly host - decent size group. Limited opportunities for sitting but the walking is not a far distance. A good chance to see some of the local inns from the outside. We were scared on the way home.

Had a great Ghost tour with Julie! She shared the local lore with great enthusiasm & also gave us good recommendations for additional side quests based on the local haunts & stories we very much appreciated! Weather was perfect & it’s a great way to spend a couple hours getting good historical information as well!

We highly recommend this 6:30 PM tour with Doug. It was a beautiful short walk with a few spots to learn more not only about ghosts, but some great information about the area. We are locals and there were some things we didn't know that made us feel that much more grateful to live in this beautiful region of the world. We would take the same tour again someday with friends if that says anything.

Very good tour. The guide did a great job explaining the history at each stop. The last stop was the cemetery, which was a little eerie to leave and venture back to the car.
