We'll pick you up and drive through the Alaska Native Tlingit village of Hoonah before merging onto old logging roads that will take us to a remote river where we'll fish for Salmon and/or Trout. The beautiful river is in the Tongass National Forest on Chichagof Island. During the car ride and along the river it is common to spot wildlife- the island has more brown bears per square mile than almost anywhere else on the planet. Depending on the time of year, we can watch salmon spawn and look for wild berries to eat. Upon arriving at the river, we'll put on our waders and walk a short distance to the first fishing hole where we'll fish for Salmon and/or Trout. We can stay at one spot for the duration of the trip, or we can walk along the river to fish in multiple spots. We had an outstanding experience with NatAdventures in Icy Point, Alaska. Chris put us right on the fish, and we landed plenty of Dolly Varden throughout the day. His knowledge of the area and dedication to making sure we had success on the water made the day incredibly enjoyable. The wildlife viewing was equally amazing. We were fortunate enough to see seven bears, including a mother bear with her two cubs, which made the experience even more memorable. Chris truly went out of his way to ensure we had a great outing. His professionalism, local knowledge, and commitment to providing an exceptional experience were evident from start to finish. He even took a detour on the way back to the drop off so I could drop off a law enforcement challenge coin to the Hoonan PD. If you're visiting Icy Point and looking for a memorable fishing and wildlife adventure, I highly recommend NatAdventures and Chris.

What a fantastic day we had with Natalie & Gavin! Three generations of our family spent the day hiking & fishing, making memories we will treasure for years to come. I’m not sure what was better- the fishing, the breathtaking scenery or the wonderful family pictures! Natalie & Gavin were incredibly knowledgeable, well prepared & made the experience enjoyable & effortless. We couldn’t have asked for a better day!

A perfect day in Alaska! From the time we booked through the end of the tour, Natalie took excellent care of us. She explained the details of our excursion as well as expectations, so that we could be well prepared. She provided detailed instructions for our meeting place as well as what to bring. After we disembarked our ship, she picked us up, took us to a spot to gear up, including putting on our waders, which fit perfectly and were in excellent condition. We then drove to the spot where we would hike to the river, but decided to make a quick detour to go see if there were any bears nearby. The tide was in so she took us back to begin our hike. The hike was beautiful and she pointed out some unique and interesting plants and talked about the area and the land we were on. Such an interesting landscape and unlike anything we had experienced. We made it to our first spot and started casting. The equipment she provided was excellent. We do not have a lot of experience and Natalie was patient and gave us lots of great tips. We fished at several great spots and we had some success! Eventually, we had to head back. We hiked back the same way, enjoying the beautiful colors and interesting fauna. Natalie had a delicious snack waiting for us. We drove back to the beach and were thrilled to see a sow and her two cubs...it was surreal. We stayed as long as we could before heading back. Natalie gave us a recommendation for lunch and dropped us off. We feel so fortunate to have had this experience and to meet Natalie. Her passion for fishing and for the land is evident. We hope to come back - and would definitely explore the area with NatVenture Tours again!

This was our best excursion of our vacation. Nat took me my brother and our grandkids on a great morning of fishing seeing bears and whales. We took her boat to a nearby island and walk to the perfect spot. I haven’t been fishing in 50 years and she was very patient with all of us. We were all able to catch some fish 6 total and while we were fishing a bear came up over the ridge and crossed the river. On our way back to the boat we saw a momma bear and her 2 cubs. Then Nat took some time to find a couple whales before we went back. In my option Nat is the best guide very knowledgeable of the area and very personable. We will definitely do the excursion against n next time we are in Hoonah.

Our bear watching tour with Natalie was hands down our family’s favorite part of the entire trip. From the moment we met her, we knew we were in great hands. Nat knew all the best places to view wildlife, fish and take in the most breathtaking scenery, making every moment feel special and exciting. Not only did we have the adventure of a lifetime but we also felt completely safe and cared for every step of the way. Natalie is incredibly kind, knowledgeable and truly passionate about what she does. She and her staff went above and beyond to create a lifelong memory for every member of our family. If you’re considering an Alaskan excursion, don’t hesitate to book with Natventure Tours. It was an experience we’ll be talking about for years to come and one we will never forget. Thank you, Nat, for making our trip so extraordinary!

Natalie took me, my brother, and our grand kids (11,8) on a fishing, bear watching, whale watching trip and it was the adventure of a lifetime! We are all “city slickers” and no experience with fishing. Natalie took us to a beautiful location, patiently taught us the technique, and we ended up catching 8 fish between us! While fishing we saw a bear about 100 yards away crossing the river. Natalie kept us safe while getting an up close view of this magnificent beast. On our hike back to the boat we saw another Mama bear with two cubs. Again, we were kept at a safe distance but were able to see these beautiful animals up close. To top it off, on the boat ride back to town we saw several whales. The entire excursion was fantastic. Natalie and her team are professional, friendly, and just plain fun. We had an absolute blast! My 11 year old grandson said “this is the greatest thing I’ve ever done!” There is nobody better to spend an outdoor adventure with. If you are heading to Alaska…book Natventure for a trip of a lifetime!

Absolutely fantastic experience! Natalie really knows her town of Hoonah and all of the honey holes. She was on time, professional and courteous and exceptionallyservice oriented. She did well with all ages traveling with us which arranged from seven years old to 75 years old. Not only did she immediately take us to a grizzly with Cubs, but all fishing individuals caught at least one fish, and there was plenty to afterwards. She provides much more than his advertised in the tour description. Truly, a once in a lifetime experience that deserves no hesitation to book.

Our family (adults ages 36-74, kids ages 3-14) had an amazing time stream fishing in Hoonah (Icy Strait) Alaska with Nat and Gavin! I was looking for a little more adventure and we were also considering some type of fishing excursion for this trip. We have done some deep sea fishing/ fished out of a boat/fished off docks for years, but fishing in a river with such beautiful views was just unique and fun! 10 outta 10 recommend! If you are a leary traveler worried about booking an excursion on your own, let your worries be soothed! Nat and Gavin are VERY professional and knowledgeable and will make sure you get the experience you are looking for while taking care of you. They both were patient with us in teaching us how to fly fish and helping the kids fish/release fish/ take photos! Here are a few things my family had to say about the fishing experience: Tempe (14)"The best part was crossing the waist high river!" Phoenix (11)"It was very fun! I want to go again! Fly fishing was hard but fun!" Maverick (9) "It was so beautiful and it was fun to fish there!" Joe (41) "It was a unique and enjoyable experience. It felt like everyone else on the cruise was doing generic/cookie cutter things and we were taking an adventurous trek through the wilderness to fish."

This was a great experience! Gavin our guide was excellent and explained how to fish to us as we’d never done it before! Waders are provided which was great. We drove through Hoonah and onwards and then walked about 20-30 minutes in pure nature to the river which was lush! I caught a trout which I was super proud of and Gavin was excellent at supporting me with the fish and getting a photo! The salmon snack provided in the car ride back is the stuff of my dreams! All such a great experience
