Enjoy the Northern Coromandel on your way to our hidden gem, the Coromandel Coastal Walkway.
Join the shuttle from our Colville base, just 30 minutes north of Coromandel Town. Leave it to our experienced driver to negotiate the twisting roads while you sit back and enjoy an interactive, yet informative commentary.
Your self-guided hike of up to 10kms begins at Fletcher Bay and passes through open farmland before it descends through regenerating native bush. Explore the depths of Poley Bay with its tortured volcanic rocks, scarred from the relentless pummeling of the nearby sea.
Continue to the Lookout Point, famous for its wide spanning views across the Colville Channel to Great Barrier Island and Beyond. The second part of the journey sets off through beautiful stands of mature manuka with glimpses of easterly views to Cuvier and Mercury Islands.

We stayed at Suzanna’s which is owned and operated by Leanne and Gavin of Hike and Bike and what an absolute experience treasure that was - well and truly exceeded expectations, as was the walk and cycling experience. But Leanne and Gavin were by far the best ever - they went well and above, lovely people, great communication. Perfect. Thanks so much guys - you rock.

We loved our day trip from Coromandel to the northern tip of the peninsula for a walk and swim. Gavin was very informative on the journey and negotiated the gravel road with expertise. A fabulous day and I would highly recommend if you are in the area

The Coastal Walkway with Hike & Bike Coromandel was one of the highlights of our whole NZ adventure! The Coromandel is an absolute gem! Beautiful landscapes, spectacular views and lots and lots of beaches. Went for a swim on a beach on the Coastal Walk and we had the whole beach to ourselves. So peaceful. And Leanne and Gavin were so nice, provided excellent service and provided lots of useful and interesting information about the place. Highly recommended.

We have spent an amazing day with Bike & Hike on the Coromandel Coastal Walk. Our guide was extremely friendly, approachable and shared a lot of knowledge of the local area and Maori culture. The Coromandel Walk scenery was stunning! Even though the weather was wet and muddy on the first half of the walk, it all changed on the return part and we had beautiful sunshine which made the whole experience even more spectacular. We were also taken to another beach walk afterwards - about an hour long - to the beautiful Port Jackson beach. Highly recommended experience - we could relax, did not have to worry about driving and road conditions, could just admire and take in the scenery and atmosphere of this amazing part of the world.

This experience is not to be missed! We had no idea the tip of the Coromandel was so beautiful. It’s also fairly inaccessible for tourists (unless you’re a local and have a suitable vehicle you can’t get there…and rental cars typically aren’t permitted to go beyond Colville). Leanne picked us up in Coromandel Town at 8 am and we drove approximately 1 hour to the start of the 12k walk (3 sections..each approximately 4km). Leanne points you in the right direction then meets you at the end of each section (with refreshments!). We were back in Coromandel Town at 4:30. Parts of this hike are very hilly and strenuous and I was glad I had poles. We were at high elevations and on beautiful Port Jackson beach as well. The final section takes you to Fletcher’s Bay. The Coromandel Coastal Walkway is closed due to cyclone damage but the alternate program put together by Leanne and Gavin is simply fantastic and exceeded all expectations. We would not hesitate to recommend Coromandel Hike and Bike. Leanne and Gavin offer a very well thought out and comfortable experience.

Hike & Bike was really great. Very nice commentary during the drive to the north of the Coromandel to do the walk from Stoney to Fletcher's bay. Excellent driving skills displayed on these gravel roads. Then another hike to the next beach and some tea to close off a very nice day. Great organization, very professional and flexible as I called them to reserve a spot. Paid upon arrival. Very nice people.

Highly recommend Hike & Bike Coromandel! It was a stress-free way to walk the beautiful Coromandel Coastal Walkway. Gavin provided informative and entertaining commentary on the van ride to and from. Excellent customer service. They went above and beyond to find hiking poles when I requested them. A perfect day out from Coromandel Town!

The start of the day was already good, Gavin welcomed us in the shuttle and via Colville we drove to Stony Bay. Gavin drives very pleasantly and quietly on the winding dirt roads and tells a few things about the area. The Coastal Walk itself was beautiful; you really feel at the end of the world, few people you meet either. After 4 hours including breaks we reached Fletcher Bay where Gavin picked us up again. On the way back there was still the option for an extra 30 to 40 min walk to Port Jackson where we were picked up again, even with tea/coffee and a brownie. Highly recommended day trip!

We did the hike and bike combo - walking the Coromandel Coastal Walkway and then cycling back to Colville. It was a fantastic experience. Scenery is amazing and the organisation of Hike & Bike Coromandel is excellent. Everything ran like clockwork and could not have been better. Leanne and Gavin are lovely, kind and knowledgeable. They provide outstanding support with a genuine friendly and welcoming approach. Highly recommend.
