Besides the casteli, a visit to the monastery of Prophet Elias, up on the hilltop, is a must. There, visitors can marvel at the panoramic views of the island.

We booked this tour through their website. We had the time of our life. The tour guide was amazing and we really enjoyed it and discovered the island through a local’s prespective. We recommend it to everyone. Thank you Panagioti!!

- Review from Viator
I booked through Viator a tour with car and driver to pick four of us from cable car station. It was our first time to Santorini. After arriving at the cable car station on the top of the island, I saw a few persons whom I supposed were drivers or tour guides holding cards bearing names presumably their clients. But I did not see my name. After waiting for 15 minutes, we still did not see anyone holding a card bearing my name, so I called and found the contact person, who said he was the driver and could not come to pick us up for he was alone with his car, and asked us to find him and his car at 15 minutes’ walk. I told him I did not know the place, and thus I booked a guide and car. He said I did not book a guide but just a car with driver. After my insistence that he has to come to meet us, after more than 30 minutes he came and led us to his car through narrow streets which I don’t think we could have known how to go without being led. After getting on his car, we were asked to wait. He went into a store and came back with a few drinks. He gave us a bottle of water each. Then he drove the cars to a few sightseeing spots, and let us get off to walk around at each spot without much introduction, and finally sent us somewhere near the cable car station as the last stop. Before that I did not plan to book any excursion offered by our cruise ship for I was told self-arranged excursions would be cheaper and more flexible. But after that “ private car tour”, I changed my mind and booked excursions organised by the cruise ship, and found them much more organised with professional tour guides at prices not much higher!
