Guided from any smart phone, groups make their way among well-known and overlooked gems of the city, solving clues and completing challenges while learning local history. The adventure begins in the Boston Common and will take you on a journey among historic landmarks and along key sections of the Freedom Trail. Experience the history of old cemeteries and famous meeting halls with the sights and smells of the Italian North End. Using a smartphone as “the guide” allows participants to start when they want and determine their own pace of play. Stop for lunch along the freedom trail or grab an Italian pastry in the North End… why not, it’s your schedule? Offered at a fixed price for a group vs. per person pricing, this city tour/game offers a great value to those on a budget. 1.00This was rather difficult. My kids were almost not interested in reading it or listening to me read it. I was very surprised by how disappointing this was. After about an hour or trying to keep everyone engaged I gave up and we never finished the assignment. In addition a I didn’t learn anything about the freedom trail from this activity because the questions at times had no context. I figured it would be somewhat educational but it wasn’t.

5.00We were looking into several tour options and came across the Boston Freedom Trail Scavenger Hunt Adventure which primarily focuses on exterior areas of important historical sites in Boston. This open structured smartphone enabled guided tour was perfect fit for our group with just the right amount hints, puzzle, and exploration. We started our scavenger hunt after 6pm which did mean one cemetery site was closed but it was well worth it as we ended up in Quincy Market and the North End during dinner hours. We were surprised how complementary the Scavenger Hunt Tour (outside sites) was to the 250 Pass Tour (inside sites) and would recommend them both!

4.00Really fun way to explore a part of the city! Kept my 2 kids interested the whole time! Would have been helpful to have had more information before I purchased, for example one of the sites closes at 5pm so we were not able to enter but did not learn this until after paying. Also, it should mention in the description that it can take up to 2 hours after purchase before you are able to access the app. We wanted to do it right away. Fortunately, Christie at Urban Adventure Quest was super friendly and helpful.

5.00The hunt was very fun and challenging. I just wish we’d had more time to go into some of the buildings, but we were limited because we had added other plans. History buffs should make this an all day event! Thank you for helping us to see your beautiful city!

4.00The site is a little clunky and I think it's a shame to charge per person. There was no further effort on UAQ's side so charging for 4 people felt a bit icky. It was also difficult to navigate to the leaderboard with lots of broken links but we got there in the end. (When I tried to enter our team name nothing happened.) All that said, the tasks were well written and not too easy which was great. We had a fun afternoon.

5.00Our family loved the scavenger hunt! We were able to see and tour historical Boston at our own pace and having fun along the way. Stopped when we wanted to stop and started back up when ready.

3.00The hunt was fun but a little hard to get started. It would not work on my iPhone. Luckily, my husband has an Android device so we were still able to play. I recommend setting up your account before you get to your destination. For our hunt, it turned out we also needed pen and paper.
