What To Expect
Teatro Nacional Sao Joao
This classic building was constructed in 1910 on top of the ruins of the Real Theatre which burned down in 1908. With stylistic emblems representing pain, quality, hate and love. The main façade is inspired by its renovation in the style of Luís XVI, which is typical of the early years of the 20th Century, namely in France. Designed by Marques da Silva, it is considered a building of public interest. His main objectives were the creation and presentation of theatre shows, of various genres, and the encouragement of better public availability of specialist, classic and contemporary theatre works, spanning through the national and international drama repertoire. As well as the National Theatre São João, head-office, the building connects the Carlos Alberto Theatre to the São Bento da Vitória monastery.
Catedral do Porto
Construction dating from the twelfth/thirteenth century, in Romanesque style, that has been enlarged and renewed over the years up to its final setting, in the twentieth century, resulting in an idealized reconstitution of the medieval cathedral. Special mention goes to: the Gothic São João Evangelista Chapel and the cloister, from the fourteenth century; the enlargement of the main chapel, the Santíssimo Sacramento Chapel and its silver altar, from the eighteenth century (mannerist); the eighteenth century Baroque frescos in the main chapel and the sacristy, by Nicolau Nasoni, and the tiles in the cloister, by Vital Rifarto; the sculpture in the Baptism Chapel, by Teixeira Lopes (father) from the nineteenth century.

NOT A PRIVATE TOUR and no compensation

1.00I took this tour a year ago and it was amazing. We had Anna as our guide and she is amazing. If you do decide to book request her as your guide. Returning to Porto with two friends I booked this for us knowing it was a great PRIVATE tour. The night before I get a text that we would need to share this tour with another booking or it would be cancelled. I asked for compensation since I booked a PRIVATE tour which no longer would be PRIVATE and he responded about some higher end lunch and extra glass of port and how his company does not provide any financial discount. We had no choice but to continue with the tour if we didn’t want to cancel it and scramble last minute. The couple that shared with us were nice people. Having a chance to meet them prior to the tuktuk arriving we discovered we had been given different reasons for the bookings to be merged. One was a sick driver, another was a broken down Tuktuk. Also, as other people joined the meeting point we all talked. Seems this is common for this company. Others were also combined at the last minute where as others were not. Also talking to others on the various stops that the tour makes. Our conclusion is that the company is over booking on a regular basis and combines tours all the time. If there was one driver sick and one Tuktuk broken then why so many tours combined? For our tour, there are 5 people on the tuktuk. There are only 4 seatbelts. This meant one of us was never belted. That’s a problem! No side covers to stop the rain from soaking us. They just don’t have them we were told. At least we travel with rain ponchos which helped somewhat. The “lunch” was horrible. One person from each of the group had requested vegetarian before the tour began to which the guide said he would let the restaurant know ahead. When we arrive the restaurant had no idea nor could they accommodate. The food was not a lunch but tapas and not the greatest. It was horrible and no one ate it. Last year the lunch was a proper lunch and good. So there was no “special” or “extra” provided to compensate this not bring a private tour. As for an “extra” glass of port as per the “compensation”, no one wanted it and this not anything extra. You are always offered more. We were last year too. In our collective opinion, we feel that this company is not worth our business and will never recommend them to anyone. Suggest you book another company or find the place where all the tuktuk’s park as you can book them on the spot and customize your tour.
Great way to experice the beautiful city of Porto

5.00What a great way to take in a beautiful and fun city! We had a wonderful day with our guide Gabby. She was very accommodating and hospitable. We did 8 hours and hardly realized we had been going that long. Lunch at Mercado Lendario was much more and better than we expected. If I had any recommendations, the Tuk Tuk was a little small/tight for 3 adults. We survived, but a larger vehicle would have made the day even better. I would still recommend!

3.00We had a full day private tuk tuk around Porto which is a great way to see all of the city if you have limited time. There was a change to our itinerary, which we were advised on before hand, however we still decided to go and while we did enjoy seeing the major view points and going to the beaches, we were a little disappointed with our guide. While he was nice young and well dressed man, we didn't receive much information at all on the history of the city, where we where going etc. We had to keep asking questions, which was a little annoying for our first visit to the city of Porto.

5.00We had a wonderful FULL day with Gabi in the tuk tuk. She took us all over Porto. We saw all the sites in Porto. We crossed the River and went to Villa de Gaia and walked the riverfront admiring beautiful Porto from the other side. We had lunch and she even had a delicious bottle of Port with her so we could experience Porto with some Port wine. A beautiful day. I highly recommend this tour.

2.00Very dissatisfied, was not what I expected. The guide was knowledgeable when asked a question but, not informative for an entire day. Only one day is Porto and thought this would be a quick way to see. Just canceled 1/2 tuk tuk in Lisbon and would not recommend a tuk tuk tour with Viator.

5.00We sure liked this experience, but I should have gotten the half day. We saw a lot and had a great guide. We are big people and the tuk tuk is not, so by the end of the day we were very stiff and sore (especially riding over the cobblestones). This was not the guide or the company's fault, just something to be aware of. Our guide made sure that we had frequent stops and we especially liked seeing areas that were off the beaten path. I would recommend this tour and this guide Renaldo to anyone.
