What To Expect
Cetaceans in the Azores The Azores are a true oasis when it comes to cetacean observation, being possible to see around 28 different species throughout the year, this represents 1/3 of the world's known cetacean species. Our team is prepared to make it possible to observe these magnificent mammals, with the help of a “Watchman” (a member of our team located on land), located in a high area, where, through long-range binoculars and radio guidance, vessels about the whereabouts of cetaceans. This way we are able to maintain a cetacean sighting rate of over 90%. Sighting Guarantee When observing cetaceans, it is difficult to predict what behavior and species will be possible to see. In this way, water4fun can only guarantee the sighting of at least one specimen of the cetacean order, and it is not possible to predict which or even the family (whales, dolphins, among others). If no specimen of the cetacean order is seen, the customer has the right to reschedule a second attempt, subject to company availability, completely free of charge, or as a last resort, request a full refund.

5.00The checkin is well organized. Gi, the guide, provided a waterproof jacket and comfortable life vest . Although a couple was missing, we were taken to the boat. Gi waited a few extra minutes and let us all know. They did arrive and we began. The spotters did a great job guiding the captain to sightings. We saw a variety of dolphins and fin whales. The boat was in excellent condition and even had a restroom, if needed. All in all a great adventure.

5.00From the check-in moment to the return to the harbor, everything was simply perfect. The Water4fun team conveys incredible energy, always welcoming, professional and super attentive to every person on board. It is clear that they do this with passion and not just work. Before we left, they gave a very interesting explanation about the marine species of Terceira Island and the importance of preserving the oceans, which made the experience even more special. During the journey, they were constantly vigilant to ensure everyone could see the animals and even helped to take fantastic photographs. We were lucky to see several groups of dolphins swimming by the boat, some so close that it looked like a documentary scene! The most exciting point was the appearance of a giant whale right in front of us — a completely regrettable and unforgettable moment. Another detail I loved was the care of the crew with the comfort of the passengers. There was always concern for safety, clear explanations, good disposition and even small games that made the environment light and fun. The boat was impeccable and the whole organization was exemplary. In the end, we feel that we did not pay for just one tour, but for a unique memory for a lifetime. Undoubtedly one of the best experiences I have ever had in the Azores. I recommend 200% to anyone who visits Terceira Island. It's worth every second!

5.00We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. We were able to see sperm whales and two types of dolphins. All animals indigenous to the Azores. Incredible to see these animals in their natural habitat. We also enjoyed just how well the guide and boat captain understood the animals behaviour so they were able to warn us when to have our cameras ready for some amazing photo opportunities.
